Math: We are working on double digit
multiplication. We are learning the standard
algorithm (the old way we learned), area square
model, and partial product method. Please have
them practice their facts. The 4th grade team is
looking at doing our math test on Friday, so having
them just work on their facts will be a HUGE help!
Science: The kids are doing experiments daily on
energy, transfer of energy, force of energy, and
we will be doing this for a few months. We will do
some transfer of energy with electricity in this unit
Social Studies: We are learning all about the Civil
War and slavery. We are focusing this week on
researching a famous African American who made a
difference in our lives today. These would be
pioneers, inventors, earlier musicians, athletes,
etc. The kids will write a short paper on the
person they chose and will share it to their class.
Prefect of the Week (Trojan of the WeeK)
Congratulations to Savannah for being our “Honest” Prefect of the week.
She always is honest and kind to her friends and teachers. If something
happens on the playground, in the classroom, or at recess, I can always
count on Savannah to let me know what happened. If I have a sub,
Savannah will let me know how the day went, and I appreciate that. This
is a skill many students are still working on. She is a positive role model
in the class and I appreciate having her in my room.

Reading: We are reading science and social studies
passages and comparing and contrasting them.
These are stories that follow what we are doing in
the class, so we can practice our M-Step skills while
learning.
Writing: We will use our writing time to do our
research paper work, gathering information, putting
into paragraph forms, and revising. The kids will
help peer edit as well, so they will be learning to
help each other, which will also benefit themselves as
a writer.
