Recalling Little Larry’s First Day at School Mrs. Whyte was reminiscing about Little Larry’s first day of school when they were going to say the “Pledge of Allegiance” for the first time. This is how it went….. Mrs. Whyte had advised the class that each school day started with the “Pledge of Allegiance” and instructed them to put their right had over their heart and repeat after her. As Mrs. Whyte started the recitation she looked around the room, “I pledge allegiance to the flag……,when her eyes were drawn to Little Larry who had his hand over the right cheek of his bottom. “Little Larry I cannot continue till you put your hand over your heart,” she said. Little Larry looked up and replied, “It is over my heart.” After several more attempts to get Little Larry to put his hand over his heart, Mrs. Whyte enquired, “Why do you think that is your heart, Little Larry?” “Well,” answered Little Larry, “because every time my Grandma comes to visit she pats me there and Never to late too love. Never to late too forgive. Never too late too be kind to yourself. Never too late to live. Never too late to forgive yourself. Never too late to open your heart. Never too late to believe again. The most interesting part of his life he states is “living life enjoying what he is doing”. The most influential person in his life he credits to his high school principle, Mr. McDonald, as he always knew when to guide his students on the right path in their life. His hobbies include golfing. He golfed in a tournament on New Years Day called the Saint Bernard in which if it snowed they played with a tennis ball. —That would be interesting to see—. Bill, we welcome you to our Sandhill CHINESE ANYONE?? ALICE GEDDIS Alice Geddis is a welcome addition to Sandhill Gardens. Alice was born and raised in Elizabeth, New Jersey until she got married in 1948. Then she move to Florida in 1975 to Lake Suzy before recently joining us here. She has travelled to Denver, Colorado, Biloxi Mississippi, Jersey Shore and Las Vegas. Her favorite place being Las Vegas as she loved gambling. Alice has three children Suzanne, George and Larry. Her previous occupation was that of a school bus driver for 12 years and she also worked for Prudential Insurance. Alice credits the most interesting part of her life to raising her family and celebrating holidays. She credits her husband as being the most influential person in her life as he was very kind, patient, always had a smile and loved her very much. Alice enjoys walking and crossword WILLIAM WOLF William, or “Bill” as he likes to be called, is a new addition to Sandhill Gardens. Bill was born in Wausau Wisconsin and raised in Illinois, where he lived until he enlisted in the U. S. Navy. He served for 3 years in the Navy Submarine Corp after which he move to Florida in 1981 where he has lived since. Bill has travelled all over the world such as Alaska, Hawaii, Panama Canal, Yellow Stone National Park, Turkey and the Mediterranean. He, however, was most impressed with Florida especially Naples golf courses and their beaches. Bill has three step daughters, Joan and Jean, who are twins, and Jan being the oldest. He also has 2 older brothers and 1 younger sister. His previous profession was that of Management at a company that manufactured flexible plastic where he worked for 30 years. A couple went out to eat at a Chinese restaurant and ordered the “Chicken Surprise”. The waiter brought the meal served in a lidded cast iron pot. THEY’RE ALL THE SAME Shrove Tuesday is a reminder that Christians are entering a season of penance and was originally a solemn day. But over the centuries, in anticipation of the Lenten fast that would begin the next day, Shrove Tuesday took on a festive nature. That is why Shrove Tuesday is also known as FAT TUESDAY or MARDI GRAS (which is simply French for Fat Tuesday). The earliest date that Shrove Tuesday can GUESS WHO THIS LITTLE YOUNG MAN IS! Just as the wife was about to serve herself, the lid of the pot rises slightly and she briefly saw 2 eyes looking around before the lid slams back down. “Good grief, did you see that?” she asked her husband. He didn't so she asked him to look in the pot. He reached for it and again the lid rises and he sees two little eyes looking around before it slams down. Rather perturbed, he called the waiter over, explains what is happening and demands an explanation. “Please sir,” said the waiter, “what you order?” The husband replied, “Chicken Surprise.” CHECK THE BULLETIN BOARD IN THE LOBBY TO FIND THE ANSWER!
