Recalling Little Larry’s
First Day at School
Mrs. Whyte was reminiscing about Little Larry’s
first day of school when they were
going to say the “Pledge of Allegiance”
for the first time. This is how it went…..
Mrs. Whyte had advised the class that
each school day started with the
“Pledge of Allegiance” and instructed
them to put their right had over their
heart and repeat after her.
As Mrs. Whyte started the recitation
she looked around the room, “I pledge
allegiance to the flag……,when her
eyes were drawn to Little Larry who
had his hand over the right cheek of his
bottom.
“Little Larry I cannot continue till you
put your hand over your heart,” she
said.
Little Larry looked up and replied, “It is
over my heart.”
After several more attempts to get Little
Larry to put his hand over his heart,
Mrs. Whyte enquired, “Why do you
think that is your heart, Little Larry?”
“Well,” answered Little Larry, “because
every time my Grandma comes to visit
she pats me
there and

GETTING TO KNOW YOU
We are happy to have Alice in our Sandhill Gardens community.
The most interesting part of his life
he states is “living life enjoying what
he is doing”. The most influential
person in his life he credits to his
high school principle, Mr. McDonald,
as he always knew when to guide his
students on the right path in their
life.
His hobbies include golfing. He
golfed in a tournament on New Years
Day called the Saint Bernard in which
if it snowed they played with a tennis
ball. —That would be interesting to
see—.
Bill, we welcome you to our Sandhill

THEY’RE ALL THE SAME
Shrove Tuesday is a reminder that Christians are entering a season of penance
and was originally a solemn day. But
over the centuries, in anticipation of the
Lenten fast that would begin the next day,
Shrove Tuesday took on a festive nature.
That is why Shrove Tuesday is also
known as FAT TUESDAY or MARDI GRAS
(which is simply French for Fat Tuesday).
The earliest date that Shrove Tuesday can
GUESS WHO
THIS LITTLE YOUNG MAN IS!
Just as the wife was about to serve
herself, the lid of the pot rises
slightly and she briefly saw 2 eyes
looking around before the lid slams
back down. “Good grief, did you
see that?” she asked her husband.
He didn't so she asked him to look
in the pot. He reached for it and
again the lid rises and he sees two
little eyes looking around before it
slams down.
Rather perturbed, he called the
waiter over, explains what is
happening and demands an
explanation.
“Please sir,” said the waiter, “what
you order?” The husband replied,
“Chicken Surprise.”
