Pioneer/R.C./Ch Sto/No 7098/R.A.N." inscribed over the earlier name "J.Blake/AB/CH OF E/2510 HMAS Pioneer". Fine and rare. $400 4984* Rats of Tobruk Siege Medal 1941, unfinished test strike in brass. Extremely fine and rare. $100 Together with research. Almost certainly a piece from the SMS 'Emden'. The HMAS 'Pioneer' called at Cocos Island in mid January 1914, seven weeks after the Sydney/Emden action. Personal affects, badges, coins, watches etc were taken as souvenirs by the victors. The crew of the 'Emden' would soon have been relieved of their Mexican dollars. They would of course not have appeared on any inventory of booty. See "Pioneer - Battle Lady of the Sea" by W.J. Extremely fine. $50 4988 Military cigarette cards: War Decorations & Medals, a series of 90 by John Player & Sons, 90/90; V.C's, a series of 50 by W.D. & H.O. Wills, 50/50. Housed in an album, very fine. $120 4989* Admission ticket, "Visit of Special Service Squadron to New South Wales, April 1924. Admit one/to special inspection, H.M.S. "Hood"/Saturday, 19 April, 1924. Steamer leaves No.8 Wharf [Lane Cove jetty], Circular Quay, at 9.45 am sharp." Very fine. $100 HMS "Hood" in company with HMS "Repulse" and the "Light Cruiser Squadron" visited Australia in 1923/24. Known as "The Empire Cruise" or "World Cruise", it was known by the crews as "The Booze Cruise". HMS "Hood" was sunk by the German ship "Bismark" on 24 May 1941 in "The Battle of the Denmark Strait". The "Bismark" was sunk on 27 May 1941. The ticket was used by H.A.
