Versatile Network Capabilities
At Your Fingertips
• With Wireless Printing*4 technology, you free yourself from the
constraints and clutter of wires on the printer. This allows you to place
and set up the printer wherever you want to.
You can now have more time to do other jobs with the Document
Centre 286/236’s extreme versatility. With its Push Scan feature
Fig.2, your scanned documents are directly transmitted to the
designated directory in the FTP server using FTP protocol. The
documents can also be directly transferred into a shared folder of
any Windows client on the same network. For even more workflow
efficiency, the innovative Box Job Flow feature allows you to register
and programme a series of jobs via a Job Flow sheet. The
scanned/fax-received documents in mailboxes are automatically
executed according to the Job Flow sheet. You can programme for
data to be sent as FTP/SMB, email, fax and iFax. Fig.3
• Direct Print makes printing as easy as A-B-C. Instead of the conventional
way of printing via the ‘Print Driver’ on the desktop, you can now
conveniently drag-and drop ‘printable-format’ document directly to
print via a Desktop Utility – ContentBridge. Direct Print supports
PDF*5 and TIF/TIFF. You can also submit for print via the CentreWare
Internet Services Web-submission tool or print directly from your desktop.

kept away from unauthorised personnel, the Document Centre
286/236 comes equipped with many advanced security measures.
Take the Encryption or Overwriting feature for example, it ensures
the information stored on the hard disk are prevented from access
and reproduction without authorisation. And to let you do your job
with total peace of mind, the Zero Clear feature further ensures no
electronic information remains on the system’s hard disk following

• Supports various scan formats: TIFF, PDF, JPEG and DocuWorks.
• iFax for more cost effectiveness. Instead of normal faxing, iFax lets
you send and receive scanned data as attachments via an intranet or
the Internet. So you pay only internet rate instead of telephone charges.
• With LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol), you are able
to automatically access addresses registered in the mail server over
your company’s network and download them to the device as
destinations so you don’t have to re-key in the addresses.
• CentreWare Internet Services uses the embedded HTTP Server on
the system. This allows communication with the system through a
Web browser with access to the internet or intranet. By entering the
IP Address of the system as the URL in the browser, direct access to
the system is available. Using this function, the user can confirm the
respective job status, monitor the system and check print job status
(such as the Document Centre’s paper tray), and also register speed
dials from a PC when required.
• Secure Print allows confidential documents to be temporarily
stored in the system and print accessible only by means
of a password.
• Mailbox Print enables fax-received confidential documents to be
directly stored in a temporary mailbox and printed only with the
password. This is effective in separating the confidential documents
from others.
• Network Authentication prevents those unauthorised from
accessing and using the email, scanning and iFax functions.
This authentication also puts restriction for users on Box Job Flow
and Mailbox. Unauthorised users are prevented from using the job
flow and mailbox freely as only authorised data are displayed on
the control panel while the unauthorised ones are hidden.
Cost Saving Fax Feature
• Walk-Up Fax Option with fast 33.4Kbps (Super G3 modem)
transmission and a maximum of 3 lines. This means you get to
save on the cost of stand-alone fax machines for better and easier
asset management.
