Importing Documents in Laserfiche Repository o Scanning Documents o Snapshotting of Documents Notice new look to the working area in Standard Mode Customizable Panes – can be restored (View/Panes/Restore default settings) Importing Documents in Laserfiche: What are the TOP ways you can import a document into Laserfiche? Drag & Drop, File – Save to, Send to Plug‐in with MS, Scanning, & Snapshot 
Drag & Drop – o Allows you to take a document (no matter the file type) and drag and drop the document into a folder o This does however keep the document in its native format and allows users to change the document o This is great for PDF’s  Laserfiche now has an “auto‐snapshot” type function 
File – Save to Laserfiche o This allows you to send the existing document to Laserfiche using its native format 
Sent to Plug‐in with Microsoft Office Suite o Allows you to Check Out or In a document o Comment on versions saved o Add and see Metadata associated with the document 
Scanning o 2 Modes in Scanning  Basic – It provides a fast & simple interface requiring minimal configuration.  Basic image enhancements  Optical character recognition  An interface to populate metadata  Ability to scan one document at a time to a single destination 

Perform advanced image enhancements & processes Scan multiple documents Customize how and where documents are organized and stored Configure default document properties that will be applied to future documents Best practices are to use Standard Mode (Why?) 
Image Processing o Enhancements  Border Padding – adds a border  Border Removal – removes border from image  Color Smoothing – Averages the color in the background  Crop – Removes specific areas you do not want scanned  Deskew – Straightens crooked images  Despeckle – Removes unwanted dots or speckles  Invert – Reverses present color scheme of the image  Line Removal – Removes horizontal or vertical lines  Resize – Enlarge or reduces images size  Rotate – Automatically rotates to the correct orientation  Smooth – Grow, shrink, or smooth out pixels in an image Note: Too many enhancements will slow the scanning processes. o Processes –  Page Removal  OmniPage OCR o Set up best practices –  Page Removal  Rotate  Whatever processes is needed  OmniPage OCR  Why? 
How to scan into an existing document? o Open the document you are adding into o Select the Scan icon on the tool bar short cut located at the top o Choose where in the document you would like it to be placed o Click on “Start Scanning” then “Store” o Notice that the metadata does not need to filled out 

When you have a document that needs to be converted When you are printing a bill from a webpage that needs to be stored with a corresponding document in Laserfiche  When you need to save the correspondence (email) Snapshot give you the flexibility to taking an image at a point in time of an electronic document for archival How to use Snapshot  Open the document/webpage/email for archival  File/Print  In your printer options choose “Laserfiche Snapshot 8”  Then click Print From there you will be asked to log into the repository you would like to store the document Once you have logged in under “Document Properties” Tab  Name the document  Choose the folder (or add a new one if needed)  Choose a volume if other than Default  Choose a template and then fill in the metadata  Then click on “OK” You do not need to have Laserfiche open to use Snapshot Always check your work when completed Snapshot Configuration Setup on the PC  Floyd‐Steinberg – image processing in electronic documents  300 dpi b+w  Destination  Tags  Document Handling 3 Copyright 2012 ‐ ECS Imaging, Inc.
