Literacy Core Curriculum

Green Living
Integrated Literacy activity
Speaking and Listening
These activities can be done in any order. Starting
with oral and aural activities allows whole group,
cross-level integration and offers opportunities for
learners with higher level oral/aural skills than reading
and writing to participate.
•
Watch a video or DVD on an aspect of the
environment. Since this is an area of interest to
almost everyone, a mixed group of learners can
respond at any level.
•
Each member of the group puts forward an
environmental issue of importance to them. This
could be spontaneous, following the viewing of a
video or DVD or the teacher could start the topic
and responses be prepared beforehand by
learners individually or in groups.
