Participant ETS Digital Certificate Enrolment Procedure Participants that require access to the Energy Trading System (ETS) must apply for a digital certificate as this is a secure site. This is a four step process: Step 1: Application Complete the Application Form for Digital Certificate and carbon copy the corporate contact for your company (as listed in the Participant List) when the request form is sent to [email protected] Enrolment names must be unique, therefore, the AESO recommends including the participant ID in your application name. For example, if the applicant’s name is John Smith and his company participant ID is AESO the Name in the Applicant Information section should read “John AESO Smith”. Applicants must use the same information when enrolling for their certificate online. Participant information must exactly match information displayed in ETS (participant name and corporate contact). Indicate access levels by marking an X in the desired box(es). Figure 1.1 Page 1 Confidentiality Classification Step 2: 2.1 Apply Online Once the request has been submitted, the applicant must apply online for a digital certificate via the following web site: https://onsite.verisign.com/services/AlbertaElectricSystemOperatorETS/digitalidCenter.htm Internet Explorer 9 is the only browser supported by AESO and is highly recommended. 64 bit browsers, IE versions 6-8, and Chrome are not compatible. IE versions 10 and 11 are problematic. If using IE, add https://ets.aeso.ca and https://onsite.verisign.com to Trusted Sites (under Options > Security) The screen shot shown below is an example of what you will see once you log onto the internet address provided for the Digital ID Center. Digital ID Center Figure 2.1 Page 2 2.2 Enroll Note: you must use the same browser, on the same computer, logged in with the same User ID, to enroll, install and use your digital certificate. Once you have accessed the Digital ID Center, click Enroll. This will take you to the Enrolment Form, seen below. Figure 2.2 Note: the application information and the online enrolment information must match. Once you have filled in the mandatory fields, scroll to the bottom of the screen and select Submit. - The Challenge Phrase is a type of password that must be at least 6 characters; special characters are not allowed. It will only be required if renewing from Firefox. Please take note of it as it cannot be recovered (if forgotten, re-enrollment will be necessary). Page 3 After selecting Submit you will be prompted to confirm your email address. This is a critical step as the PIN number that is needed to pick up your digital certificate will be emailed to this address. You will then receive a confirmation message similar to the one below. Figure 2.3 You will also receive an email similar to the one below. Figure 2.4 Page 4 This email serves as a reminder that the application form for digital certificate (Figure 1.1) needs to be sent to [email protected]. Without the completion of both of these steps the certificate will not be processed. Step 3: 3.1 Granting Access Once the enrolment information has been verified, AESO’s Digital Certificate Administrator will approve and grant the requested access rights. The expected service turnaround for the digital certificate is within three business days. When the digital certificate is ready for pick up you will receive an email from Symantec Verisign with instructions on how to pick-up and install your digital certificate. The email will look similar to the one below: Figure 3.1 Page 5 3.2 Pick-Up Note: you must use the same browser, on the same computer, logged in with the same User ID, to enroll, install and use your digital certificate.
