Happy New Year!!!
Welcome back everyone I hope you all had a
restful and exciting winter break.
This month the students will be moving
forward with their cursive handwriting
including a quiz covering all of the letters we
have practiced so far this school year.
They will be observing the art movement
known as Surrealism.
This movement revolved around the subject of
dreams. Most surreal artist would attempt to
illustrate their own dreams making them look
very bizarre or “surreal”.
Dali Fun Facts
The most well known of the Surrealist artists is
Salvador Dali.
-Full name is Salvador Domingo Felipe Jacinto Dalí i Domènech
-Born and raised in Spain, studied art in Madrid
-Mother died from breast cancer when he was 16 years old
-Famous for being very eccentric in the way he dressed including his
iconic mustache
-Was a painter, sculptor, photographer, movie maker, and art promoter
-During WWII he fled to the U.S. where he lived for 8 years
-Portrayed in the 2011 movie Midnight in Paris
