Beth is a Catholic Charities Foundation member and gives valuable insight to the Board and administrative staff. They are true and integral partners in Catholic Charities’ mission to serve. They are a gift to their families, this community and the Catholic Charities world and incredibly deserving of the 2013 Bishop’s Medal. DONNA HANSON AWARD Nadine Van Stone, Director of St. Margaret’s Shelter is a true visionary and servant leader. Her vision has resulted in a program that is recognized by local and national funding organizations as a “best practice”—a program that other shelters are encouraged to emulate. Her vision was to create a program that served its families in every life dimension so that they not only received emergency shelter, but more importantly, were given opportunities, training and support in order to be selfsufficient. Her vision was realized. She is best described as the matriarch of the family—the one you know is ultimately the driving force but, at the same time, who nurtures relationships that encourage and foster leadership among her “family members” so that all are enabled to do amazing things with confidence, skill and support. Inspirational, a visionary, and a true servant leader. This year our participants each set their own goals related to wellness —many were excited to lose weight, increase the amount of fresh fruits and vegetables in their diets, decrease their stress, and Jyny and Mavric integrate healthy habits into the lives of their kids. We are extremely grateful to the Lilac Bloomsday Association for enabling us to offer free registration to 18 of our Wellness Program participants this year! It was a hot day for a race, but everyone had a wonderful time and enjoyed the fruits of their hard work. Make a Lasting Difference Your perpetual or legacy gift to the Catholic Charities Foundation is an easy and meaningful way to make a lasting and life-changing difference for people who are most in need – the homeless, the displaced, and the most vulnerable. In addition to assisting those who most need our help, your current gift or future bequest can provide a significant tax benefit. Please contact us for additional information.
