What does it mean to have a “seat at the table?” Why did Montgomery Bus Boycott succeed? Was JFK a strong supporter of civil rights? Was the Great Society successful? Assessment Primary Source Activities (school) = 35% National History Day (school/home) = 25% Homework from in class activities = 20% (school) Individual Textbook work (school/home) = 20% What to Expect Our routines will change a little bit this term. This is by design. The focus 1st term was around the Presidential Election. The focus this term will be around National History Day (NHD) projects. We’ll be partnering often with Ms. Blemke in Language Arts as we seek to master the skills needed to find and understand (research and analyze) the sources you will use for your individual National History Day project. When we aren’t working on NHD, our class activities will center around the large topics of the Civil War and the Civil Rights Movement. While these eras are almost a 100 years apart in our textbook, we’re going to make some creative connections in looking at them together this term.
