From the Executive Director …
Springtime has arrived at Windsor Manor in Morrison! Our Trees
are beginning to bud, the birds are building their nests, and flowers
are starting to blossom. We are so blessed to be surrounded with the
woods around half of our community. We witness the deer playing at
dusk, the owls hooting when the sun goes down, woodpeckers
tapping in the morning, and wild turkey running around throughout
the day.
Our community continues to blossom and grow, too, this spring.
We welcome our new residents and celebrate our familiar residents.
Together we make up a wonderful group of friends and family. It was
because of our quiet country location and this warm family feeling,
that I have added the string, “Be Cared for Like Family” to our recent
advertisements!
We are excited about the Foster Senior Living Group beginning as
our new management group this month. Susan and John Foster have
already visited our community 4 or 5 times and they truly seem to be
dedicated to assisting our Windsor Manor Assisted Living Community
in Morrison. As our census keeps growing, we are able to offer many
more advantages, like more outings, more staffing, and a salad bar in
the dining area. Stay tuned!
Lastly, Thanks for supporting Our First Annual Easter Egg Hunt!!!
Enjoy the Spring Weather,
Mike

News From Your Nurse
Business News with Kim
As the nurse here at Windsor Manor of Morrison, I am excited to announce that
Morrison Community Hospital Lab will now be coming to Windsor Manor.
They will be coming here on the second Tuesday of every month. They will be
here early in the morning around 6:30 a.m. There are some lab tests that require
a person to not eat for a certain number of hours. Since they will be coming early
in the morning, no one will have to miss or eat a late breakfast. I have a current
list of all resident lab orders and will be communicating with the Morrison
Hospital Lab, so they know what to draw and when. Once the lab is drawn, the
results will then be faxed to me. Once I have the results, I will forward them on
to the resident’s specific doctor. If the doctor wishes to make any changes to the
resident’s current medications, they will then communicate that with me and I
will communicate that with the resident and their health care power or attorney. I
am very excited that this is now available to us! If you have any questions,
please feel free to see Stephanie.
“Hello Everyone”
It’s March- “In like a lion out like a lamb” –let’s hope.
This phrase originates from a straight forward proverb. When March starts its still Winter by
the end of the month Spring has sprung.
Other Proverbs/Phrases1) So many mists in March you see/so many frosts in May will be.
2) A peck in March-Dust and a shower in May/ make the corn green in fields gay.
3) March many- Weathers rain’d and blow’d / But March grass never did grow.
We can see why the last phrase (#3) phrase didn’t stick/catch on. You can just imagine a group
of old farmers or alewives sitting around and spinning seasonal proverbs/phrases on a winter
evening.
“April Showers bring May Flowers” another old wives tale is to stay in inside when you have
a cold. There are no correlation between cold weather and the symptoms of the common cold.
Why are there more colds in the winter months??? Studies show people are closer together in
proximity and the spread of the viris is more likely to happen then in the summer months when
we are outside in the fresh air.
Very soon we will all be getting our summer attire out and wearing flip flops- I can’t wait. My
favorite seasons are Spring and Summer. And I am ready for both.
Hopefully the old wives tale is correct since March 1st was rainy and cold then April 1st better
be sunshine and warmer. Hope you are all enjoying this warmer/sunshine weather as I am.
