Rehearsal & Performance Guidelines For December 2014 Please read the following guidelines carefully November 22* *A parent meeting will be held during rehearsal 2 weeks prior to the performance to answer all questions regarding the performance week in the theater, and put final touches to the volunteer organization. Parent or representative guardian must attend this meeting. [Run-through] Saturday Dec. 6, 1-3pm The final rehearsal will be a complete run-through requiring a longer rehearsal time, about 1hour for each act. Young artists are required to stay for the entire act in which their part appears. Anybody who misses runthrough will be removed from the production. REHEARSAL AND PERFORMANCE POLICY Performing with professional ballet company requires commitment to quality work on the part of every cast member. This can be only obtained through adequate rehearsal. Dancer must attend all rehearsals and costume fittings. Only 1 missed rehearsal will be accepted providing the parents has notified the Local Rehearsal Director (Atsuko Nakamoto) in a timely manner. The dancer may still be removed from the cast if the absences have seriously compromised the dancers ability to catch up on missed work. Be on time for rehearsals. Rehearsals begin and end on time. Dancers should always arrive at least10 minutes prior to scheduled time and quietly prepare themselves. If a dancer is late for rehearsal by more than 5 minutes, it will be counted as a "missed rehearsal". Dancers who have roles demanding more ballet technique should always warm up prior to rehearsal. Some help for warm up will be provided. ATTIRE Dancers should always be neat and clean. The same attire worn for audition should be worn for rehearsals. Do not forget your ballet slippers. No jazz shoes. Hair must be fastened properly (in a bun) so that it does not distract form the dancer’s work. No Jewelry. Please label all belongings with your name or initials. BEHAVIOR All cast members must behave in courteous, responsible manner toward each other. Disrespect to any staff member or disruptive behavior of any kind will be grounds for immediate dismissal. Good behavior includes arriving on time, being quiet and attentive at all times, respecting the rehearsal studios and theater. Pease pick up after your selves. Children who seriously and continually misbehave will be removed from the production. OBSERVING, WAITING, PICK UP Parents, friends and siblings may NOT watch rehearsals since it is very distracting to the dancers. Horsing around is not permitted. Only water is permitted. Dancers should be picked up promptly at the end of the rehearsal. PERFORMANCE TICKETS Information regarding tickets and available discounts will be forth coming. Since some roles may have rotating cast, we suggest waiting until you know your child’s performance time before purchasing tickets. ROTATING CAST AND UNDERSTUDIES For some roles there may be two equally important casts who will each receive their share of performances. In case of a dancers illness, the corresponding dancer from the other cast will be called upon to step in. Understudies learn specific parts. They must take this seriously since they can be called in at moment’s notice to replace an ill or injured dancer. MISSED SCHOOL Every effort is made to schedule rehearsals after school. However, parents should be prepared to have their child occasionally miss school if the need should arise. ESTABLISHED PRIORITIES Performing with a major ballet company require commitment. We suggest clear establishing priorities with the dancer so that he/she does not feel overburdened with extra activities. It is always a good idea to have the dancer rest properly and eat healthy snack before coming to rehearsal to give time to digest properly. Dancers should curtail other activities during this very busy time. MOSCOW BALLET COSTUME INFORMATION All costumes are provided by Moscow Ballet.
