Your Shyness believes she is descended
from royalty. She wears a lace collar and
has silky fur, bright as a gold coin.
Minky, the littlest cat, looks as if she
stepped in snow when she was a kitten
and the snow never melted. She is all
black except for her white paws and the
spots on her head and tail, where the
snow didn’t melt either.
Clasby wears a bobble hat,
knitted for him for his fifth birthday.
He loves to draw and paint.

Miss Petitfour’s cake memory game
Everyone likes thinking about cakes – Miss Petitfour most of all! Gather a group of three or
more people and play this fun cake-filled memory game.
Sit in a circle and choose a person to start the game
The first person completes the following sentence: ‘I went to Miss Petitfour’s picnic and I ate …’
For example, ‘I went to Miss Petitfour’s picnic and I ate a currant toast squishy with butter.’
The second person then repeats that sentence and adds on another cake.
For example, ‘I went to Miss Petitfour’s picnic and I ate a currant toast squishy
with butter and a Bramley apple pie.’
veryone takes it in turns to add another cake, and another, until someone can’t
E
remember any more. That person then drops out of the game.
Repeat until you have a winner!

Books too silly ever to be written
‘Miss Petitfour and Mrs. Collarwaller spent many enjoyable hours drinking tea together in the bookshop and playing a
game they were both extremely fond of: thinking up titles for books too silly ever to be written, such as Beware, I’m Going
to Rob you Any Minute, or Warning: The Last Page Is Missing, or This Book is a Waste of Time, or How to Care
for the Fish in Your Shoe, or Don’t Bother, all the Pages are Stuck Together, or I Think I’m Asleep.’
Think of your own titles for books too silly ever to be written – the sillier the better!

Try using some of the story words from the book:
THEN ONE DAY, MEANWHILE,
JUST THEN, UNFORTUNATELY …
