you
have not got one but you can still buy them and other merchandise from
Sainsburys.
massive thank you to Lola, Poppy, Ella, Isabelle,
Teigan, Ebony and Molly for organising your fundraising event today. I
have been so impressed by your leadership, commitment and
organisation. You have all worked so hard and as a result there were
lots of delicious cakes for everyone to buy, along with pretty friendship bracelets and fun loom
bands. An incredible £274.73 was raised which is fantastic. Well done girls you are an absolute
credit to the school, we are extremely proud of you and know that your families will be very proud
of you too.
FUNDRAISING – A
Dylan Prior from Class 7 has decided to organise his own fundraising
event to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West because he
feels that they help parents relax when their children have been
diagnosed with a serious disease. He has set Sunday 9 April at 11.00 am
as the date for his fun run at Filham Park. Entry will be £3 and all money raised will go to the
hospice. What a lovely idea Dylan, well done!
WORLD BOOK DAY: THURSDAY 2 MARCH 2017 – As in recent
years the children can dress up as their favourite book character
for the day and browse books to buy at our Book Fair after school
in the Hall from Friday 3-8 March. Scholastic book magazines and
a £1 World Book Day voucher are being distributed to all children
next week. Please note that no mufti money is required for this
dressing up event.
CUTS TO EDUCATIONAL FUNDING - You may have seen stories in the press about proposed
funding cuts in education. The new funding formula will have a dramatic impact on schools in
Devon and our school is one of the many local schools which will lose out if the new funding
formula is agreed. If you would like to find out more about potential cuts please visit this website
www.schoolcuts.org.uk supported by all the main teaching unions. There is much more information
and there is a link which will quickly help you to generate an email to your MP if this is an issue you
feel strongly about.
SAINSBURY’S ACTIVE KIDS CAMPAIGN 2017 - Now in its thirteenth year, Active kids continue to
inspire young people to get active, be healthier and have fun. Instilling
healthier eating habits in children is vital when encouraging a healthier,
more active lifestyle. Active Kids vouchers are available now until 2
May 2017 at all Sainsbury’s stores, petrol stations and when ordering
groceries online. One voucher is earned for every £10 spent in a single
transaction at Sainsbury’s Supermarkets and one is earned for every £5
spent in a single transaction at Sainsbury’s Locals. Please help us to
stock up on valuable resources for the school by saving as many vouchers as possible. A collection
box has been placed in Main Reception. Many thanks.
ALL LETTERS ARE NOW AVAILABLE ON THE SCHOOL’S WEBSITE IF YOU NEED ONE
