Triangle Song/Rap and Video Extra Credit For extra credit, you will make your very own song/rap about triangles, the following are the options for topics and specifics you may want to include: If your topic is Classifying Triangles: All 6 types of triangles, what makes each triangle its class, how to classify triangles If your topic is Angles in Triangles: The sum of the interior angles in a triangle, the sum of the remote interior angles = exterior angle If your topic is Triangle Inequality Theorem: The formula, why do we use it If your topic is Midsegments of a Triangle: How is the midsegment related to one of the sides, how do we find their measures If your topic is Original Triangle Congruence Postulates (SSS, SAS, AAS, ASA) What are they, what do the letter stand for, which ones don’t work (AAA, SSA) If your topic is Right Triangle Congruence Postulates (HL, LA, HA, LL) What are they, what do the letters stand for, why are they different from the original, what type of triangles do we use them for If your topic is The Pythagorean Theorem What is the formula, why do we use it, what do a, b, and c stand for If your topic is The Modified Pythagorean Theorem What is it, why do we use it, how do you know which is a, b, and c If your topic is the 6 Trigonometric Functions What are they, what are the ratios, which are reciprocals of each other, any memory tricks, how are the new Greek letters used (, , ) If your topic is How to use Sine, Cosine, and Tangent What are their acronyms, what are the ratios, how do we use it with a triangle, how are the new greek letters used (, , ) You may put it to a tune of a popular song or create your own tune. Your song/rap can be a solo act or a group act up to 4 members. Group members can be from any Geometry class, not just your period. The song must be 2-4 minutes. A copy of the lyrics for song/rap MUST be turned in by January 11th. The entire project is due January 21st. Even if you do not have me one of these days your lyrics and project are still due on that day (by email is fine). You are more than welcome to turn the items in early! In addition to your song/rap, students may create a video. The video will be the same length of the song/rap. Video and song/rap must be creative, descriptive, and easy to understand. You may use props, pictures, or any illustrations in your video. You will need to research your information. You textbook and creditable internet sources will be used as references. For your extra credit to be considered complete, you must have a song/rap recorded or performed with music. For the video, you must turn it in on a flashdrive. Extra credit will be counted as 2 test grades for the song/rap and an additional 1 test grade for a video, to go on 3rd Quarter. Your grading rubric is on the back of this sheet. Song/Rap Grading Rubric Points Focus on Chosen Topic 20 15 10 5 The entire song/rap is related to the assigned topic and allows the audience to understand much more about the topic. Most of the song/rap is related to the assigned topic. The song wanders off at one point, but the audience can still learn something about the topic. Almost all facts presented in the song/rap are accurate. The song or rap contains a few creative details and/or descriptions that contribute to the audience’s enjoyment. The composer has used their imagination. There is one spelling or punctuation error in the video. The song/rap is 1 -2 minutes. Some of the song/rap is related to the assigned topic, but the audience does not learn much about the topic. No attempt has been made to relate the song/rap to the assigned topic. Most facts presented in the song/rap are accurate The song or rap contains a few creative details and/or descriptions, but they distract from the topic. The composer has tried to use their imagination. There are 2-3 spelling and punctuation errors in the video. The song/rap is less than one minute. There are several factual errors in the song/rap. All facts presented in the song/rap are Accuracy of Facts accurate. Creativity Spelling and Punctuation Time (song/rap) The song or rap contains many creative details and/or descriptions that contribute to the audience’s enjoyment. The composer has really used their imagination. There are no spelling or punctuation errors in the video. The song/rap is 2 – 4 minutes. There is little evidence of creativity in the song or rap. The composer does not seem to have used much imagination. The video has more than 3 spelling and punctuation errors. The song/rap is not recorded/performed. Video Grading Rubric Points Video Time (Video) 50 40 30 20 Video relates to the topic of the song/rap, displays all information correctly within the song/rap, and captures the attention of the audience. The video is 2 – 4 minutes. Video mostly relates to the topic, displays most information correctly and somewhat captures the attention of the audience. Video is off topic, information is displayed inaccurately, and does not capture the attention of the audience. Video does not meet any of the requirements. The video is less than 2 minutes.
