Election of a College Senator and Alternate for Your Unit(s)
Your College Senator’s term of office will end at the final Senate meeting in May. Please arrange for an
election of a new College Senator and Alternate to serve from May 2011 through May 2012. Your
current representatives may be re-elected if they have not served three consecutive terms.


Complete and return this form to the Senate Office, 608 Allen, by March 30.
Give the enclosed committee choice form to your new Senator and advise him/her to complete
and return it to the College Senate office by March 30 as well.
The College’s Faculty Bylaws, Article One, Section E, Article Three, Section E and F, state that the
membership of the College Senate consists of one, two-year term Senator from each academic
department or administrative unit which meets our Bylaws criteria. Each unit is to conduct its own
election democratically among qualified candidates. Access the Bylaws at our Web site at

Standing Committee Membership Request
The College Senate Bylaws states that all College Senators are required to
serve on a College Senate standing committee. Therefore, I am requesting that
you complete the committee preference form on the back of this letter to aid
the Senate Office in arranging your assignment for the next academic year.

 indicate your top three committee choices
 indicate your meeting time preferences
 return the form to the College Senate Office, 608 Allen, by March 30
To assist you with your decision, the Bylaws gives details regarding the
standing committees and their charge. The Bylaws can be accessed at
www.brockport.edu/collegesenate at the Bylaws links.
Please take a few minutes now to fill out the form so that the Executive
Committee is able to meet its deadline for assigning new committee members.
Anyone not indicating a preference will be assigned to the committee of the
Senate President’s choice. Your assignment will be confirmed and you will be
notified after the Executive Committee has tallied the replies and filled the
open committee seats.
