Creative Producers - two roles JOB DESCRIPTION Position: Creative Producer Reports to: Director Supervises: Casual staff and volunteers, participating artists Works in a team with: Event Coordinator, Facilities Manager, Marketing Coordinator and other core staff. Hours of work: 28 hours per week (on 4 weekdays) About the roles The Creative Producers will develop and implement a vibrant multi-arts program at both Ainslie and Gorman Arts Centres that will complement and build on the creative programs of our residents. Creative Producers, working under the supervision of the Director, will play a key role in delivering the artistic vision of our strategic plan, enriching our arts precincts with a year-round program of arts activity in multiple venues. The Creative Producer (music and performing arts) will coordinate a program to activate the Ainslie Arts Centre’s refurbished inner-city music hall, and refurbished rehearsal and teaching spaces. The Creative Producer will also coordinate the re-launch of the Ralph Wilson Theatre at Gorman Arts Centre with a curated season of independent performance works, as well as overseeing a general program of music and entertainment at both centres. The Creative Producer (books, writing and ideas) will coordinate a program that positions Gorman Arts Centre as a meeting place for conversation and ideas about the arts and society - talks, debates, presentations and readings aimed at growing the vibrant literary and publishing environment already present at the centre. New program venues will include the refurbished main hall at Gorman Arts Centre and a new lounge and co-working space in a renovated wing of the centre. Creative Producers - two roles JOB DESCRIPTION Key responsibilities Creative Programming • Design and implement an annual program of events and activities at both Ainslie and Gorman Arts Centres under supervision of the Director, and in line with the artistic vision outlined in our business and strategic planning • Identify and facilitate opportunities to encourage and support cross-disciplinary interaction between resident arts organisations and external partners • Identify innovative ways to engage the public with contemporary arts practice, and to encourage informed critical debate about the arts • Administer expression-of-interest and selection processes for specific program opportunities • Assist in identifying, and applying for, grant opportunities capable of supporting programming activities • Coordinate specific events and programs as required, including event management • Supervise casual events staff and volunteers • Liaise directly with artists contracted to specific projects and/or hiring venues • Supervise arts-related venue hire to ensure that, while supporting financial viability, venue hire is also consistent with arts programming objectives for both centres • Liaise with the marketing and communications officer to ensure effective promotion of programs, and to ensure consistent implementation of the Ainslie and Gorman brand • Ensure that program information is conveyed in a timely manner and appropriate format to the Marketing Coordinator Other responsibilities • Draft program budgets in consultation with the Director, and monitor their implementation • Work with other staff as required to ensure that events and activities taking place at the centres meet WH&S, risk management and other operational requirements • Maintain appropriate documentation, reporting and archival of activities undertaken, as required • Collate summary program data and evaluation information of centre-led and resident artists’ programs for annual reporting • Perform other related tasks as directed Ainslie and Gorman Arts Centres are supported by the ACT Government. Highly developed art-form knowledge, preferably in Music, Theatre, or Literature 3. A high degree of production or programming experience in emerging, experimental and/or cross-disciplinary arts contexts 1. The ability to communicate about the arts in a way that convinces and inspires 2. A creative vision for programming that will engage artists and audiences in meaningful dialogue 4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills 5. Experience in managing staff, volunteers, contractors and artists engaged in programs 6. Experience in preparing and monitoring budgets 7. The ability to work autonomously but also in harmony with a small team, and with a diverse community of arts professionals and creative practitioners 8. Sound knowledge of arts funding processes and reporting obligations 3. Hands-on production experience working in arts venues 4.
