High-Concept Document
The idea
A game with a compelling story set in a futuristic Japanese-themed setting,
and a fun and easy combat-system. The game will be single player and levelbased.
Intent
Creating a game that will immerse the player in an exciting story line and
setting, utilizing the smartphone touchscreen-system.
Platform
The game will be developed for the iPhone.
Scope
The game will feature levels that will be pretty straightforward, and not
much room for exploring. Levels will be filled with enemies, items and other
npc’s/objects that can hinder or help the player.
Genre
The game will be a 3D side scrolling, action-adventure, platform game,
Price
The price of the game will be set at 8 USD
Gameplay
The game will feature a “controller” at the bottom of the screen where the
player will steer their character, such as running left/right, jump, fight,
block and interact. The player will move their character from left to right,
fighting of jumping over enemies.
The combat system will feature the use of a katana and throwing stars. By
pressing a button on the touchscreen the player will swing the katana, or
throw ninja-stars. The player can control the throwing star by using a small
“joystick” on the touchscreen.
Items will be available to collect during gameplay, such as coins and powerupgrades. The coins will allow the player to buy upgrades for their katana
and throwing-stars, from an in-game shop accessible from the pause-menu.
There will also be a number of challenges, such as puzzle-levels and
jump/platform challenges.

Story
A well-respected ninja brotherhood is infiltrated by evil-does, and the
young hero is thrown out and alienated when he begins suspecting that the
morally questionable Scorpion-Clan is involved in the corrupting of his
brotherhood. The hero, Hikeru, must find a way to stop the corruption.
Setting
The game is set in a futuristic high-tech, Tokyo. The game will be set both
outside and inside buildings. Outside will be on rooftops, streets and
possibly forest.
Graphic Style
The game will be set in a cyber-punk environment, with a dark graphical
style to match the high-tech setting. The art will have gritty dark colours
and tall buildings. It will be a mix of oriental themes and technologythemes. There will also be occasional bloody effects.
Music/sound
The music will mostly be fast-paced, techno to match the fast-paced fights.
There will also be oriental music in the background when the setting is
more peaceful and quiet. The game will have SFX for enemies, objects,
combat moves and other interactive things.
Target Demographic
The game is targeted at casual players between the ages of 15 and upward,
who enjoy platform and side-scrollers. The game will be international.
Time and resources
It is estimated that the game will be completed in 5-6 months. We estimate
the cost to develop will be at between 10.000-15.000 USD.
