Numerology (Part II) Pythagorean & Chaldern Numerology Systems My Dear Readers, Popular Numerology Systems In Part I, I have given you a brief introduction to the science of Numerology and the Law of Attraction. In Part II, I shall further delve into the popular Numerology systems, in particular, the Pythagorean system. Today, there are three well-known Numerology systems: the Pythagorean, the Chaldean and the Kaballah system. I will then go on to discuss in greater detail, the Pythagorean Numerology system. Numerology is an ancient method of divination in which all things can be converted to numerical values. Each person has a unique set of numbers associated with their name and birthday, which can be then translated into a personalised numerology chart. This numerical value(s) can help us understand ourselves and the world around us. In this article, I would just like to concentrate, that I think, are the two of the most popular Numerology systems, ie. the Pythagorean and the Chaldean system. There are some major differences between these two systems. The methodologies and the characteristics of the numbers in Chaldean are very different from that of the Pythagorean system. 14 Pythagorean versus Chaldean System There are differences in methodologies between the two systems. Here, I would just to highlight a few main differences: a. In the Chaldean system, it is based on the numbers 1 through 8, whereas it is from 1 through 9 in Pythagorean Numerology. b. The conversion of the letters (alphabets) of names to the numerical values is also different. c. Pythagorean relies more on the full original name at birth than to the currently used name (or nickname) in day-to-day social life. d. The opposite is true for the Chaldean system. The analysis of your name uses only the currently used name (or nickname), instead of your original name given at birth. However, the meanings of the numbers in the Pythagorean systems are similar to the meanings as in the Chaldean system. All numbers, regardless of which system you use, will have very similar meanings, characters, symbols and general nature. The Chaldean numerology system is perhaps the oldest form of numerology known in history. Its origin was known to be in ancient Babylon. At that time, Babylon was inhabited mainly by the Chaldeans. It is believed that Chaldean numerology is the basis for all other forms of numerology. Chaldean numerology is not as easy to master as the Pythagorean system. This may have contributed to its lesser popularity compared to the Pythagorean system. 15 The Pythagorean Numerology System, also known as “Modern Numerology” is more popular and adopted by more practicing Numerologists. It is because it is easier to learn and to interpret the meanings of numbers. It uses the full name at birth to define a person’s natural traits, talents, abilities and the tools that you were given at birth. The Pythagorean Numerology starts with five core numbers, two from birthday and three from your name. These five primary numbers are: a. Life Path Number b. Name Number c. Heart’s Desire (Soul Search) Number d. Personality Number e. Birth Day Number The Pythagorean system assigns numbers based on the Western alphabet (A-Z). It uses a formula based on finding numeral 1 to 9. The Chaldean system uses the vibrations derived from both the birthday and birth name. These two formal systems of numerology are all intended to help you discover yourself, other people, your lucky numbers and the world around you through numbers. Each system is used to determine who you are and what your destiny may be. However, the way the numbers are calculated and interpreted do differ in varying degree. Pythagorean numerology is by far the most widely used by modern numerologists. The Pythagorean system of numerology takes its name from Pythagoras, an ancient Greek philosopher, who lived in the sixth century BC. Pythagoras was an ancient mystic that specialized in mathematics, astronomy, and philosophy. Pythagoras is better known as the Father of modern Numerology. 16 The basis behind Pythagoras’ numerology is that there is a relationship between everything and numbers. He believed that the universe could be explained through numbers. Pythagoras studied under the ancient Jewish mystics as well as the Gurus in India. Pythagoras’ numerology system incorporates ancient number systems with Western mathematics, philosophy, physics and astronomy. In this system, each letter of the alphabet has a numerical value, which ranges between 1 and 9. Unlike the Chaldean system, the Pythagorean system uses only single digit numbers. Once you know how to interpret and understand the meaning of each of the numbers, 1 to 9 you will be well on your way to becoming a Pythagorean numerologist. In the next issue, ie. Part III, I will teach you how to derive three of your core Numerological numbers: a. Life Path Number b. Name Number c.
