HOPEFUL MONSTERS
A group of freakish outsiders strive to take the next
step in human evolution... A vicious serial murderer
finds himself stepping on the toes of some very powerful
beings... A journalist gets caught in the middle of a
battle between rival zombie cults... A hapless woman
causes bloody carnage with an uncontrollable killer mind
virus... These are just a few of the monsters on offer in
this collection of macabre tales, monsters who hope to
either shed their monstrosity... or revel in it.
THE ASSOCIATED
VILLAINIES
The residents of a small 19th century town hide a dreadful
secret... A young man goes to extreme lengths to avenge
the victim of a Nazi experiment... A routine exorcism goes
horribly and hilariously awry... A macabre anniversary
gift causes lascivious madness... A retired circus freak
attempts one last revolting performance... A high school
reunion culminates in a bizarre murder... A Native American
monster legend becomes terrifying reality (or does it?)...
These 26 horror tales run the gamut from the frightening
to the facetious, from the poetic to the putrid, from the
gently disturbing to the scatologically pornographic.

THE FIVE POISONS
The Below is a shadowy place, where the nightmares of
humans have dwelt for thousands of years. Once in a while,
a person will choose to visit. Photographer Sabrina Glass
has chosen to live there. During her stay, she befriends
the Poisons, half-demon guardians who keep the nightmares
in the Below world where they belong. But someone has
begun to murder the Poisons, one by one. Will Sabrina be
able to stop the killer before the nightmares escape from
Below and reconquer the sunlit world of humans?
THE TENEBRIST
“From the moment I first looked upon his striking
and clouded features, his dark eyes brimming
with passion, intensity, and hellish fire, I
knew he was destined to come to ruin. I want to
commemorate him as a man, as an artist; yes,
even as a criminal. I set down the story for
myself, for the world, so that all of us may come
to some late understanding of the man they call
Caravaggio.” Lauded genius, tortured madman,
fugitive murderer…the painter Caravaggio lived a
tragically short life treading the line between
heaven and hell. This fictionalized account,
told by his beloved acolyte Mario Minniti, is
a sordid tale of art and adoration, of power
and passion, of fame and infamy, of lunacy and
violence, illustrated by the stunning beauty of
the painter’s legendary works.

BELLWETHER
Just when you thought home renovation couldn’t be a
bigger headache, along comes a haunting and a crazy
supernatural cult to really liven things up. Martin,
Chloe, Ivan, and Olivia are four arty friends who have
bought and renovated an old house once owned by a
magician who disappeared under mysterious circumstances.
No sooner have they slapped on the last lick of paint
than trouble starts brewing: First come nightmares,
suggesting something lurks behind the walls that isn’t
insulation. Then comes the parade of strange, emptyeyed people who desperately want to get into the house
for some nefarious reason. The nightmares get worse,
leading to a bizarre discovery in the bowels of the
house, and the strange people multiply, threatening the
lives and sanity of the four heroes and their friends.
It all leads up to a confrontation between the dueling
forces plaguing the house from within and without.
RED MENACE
A bitter brew of witchcraft and vengeance. Newlyweds Daniel
and Paige Stanford move into the scenically decaying mansion
that was Daniel’s childhood home. They have barely begun
to unpack when a diseased and half-blind old woman turns
up on their doorstep. Soon enough the house is in chaos:
broken clocks chiming in the dead of night; a mysterious
red-headed girl appearing at odd moments; not to mention
the strange transformations in the attic suite that was
built to spec from “The Masque of the Red Death.” There
is also the small matter of a series of murders of gingerhaired girls, their faces disfigured by red sores. Paige
must find out who the old woman really is and what she knows
about the horrific killings, as well as the secret behind
the terrible hold she has over Daniel.

In December of 1982, when Tom
Ross was thirteen years old,
he took a week’s vacation to
Mammoth Lakes in California
with his aunt, uncle, and
cousin. Almost from the moment
they arrived at their condo,
they
experienced
a
nearconstant barrage of bizarre
phenomena that escalated over
their stay, and seemed to
follow them after they left.
The family was simultaneously
terrified and amazed. Thirtytwo years later, the four
witnesses
decided
to
tell
their story.

Steve Mera had been investigating paranormal phenomena
for many years, and had never
seen anything that shook him
to his very foundations. All
that changed in 1996, when he
was called in with his team to
look into the bizarre occurrences taking place at a small
bungalow in Rochdale, Manchester, England. What Steve experienced during the investigation was enough to make him
question his entire career
path, and remains one of only
a handful of cases that he is
completely unable to rationally explain.
