A Quick Start to Your
SmartDispense™ System
BEFORE YOU START
FILLING THE SMARTDISPENSE RESERVOIR
• The SmartDispense system can only be used with liquid or
gel automatic dishwashing detergent.
• Set the door at a comfortable angle to fill the dispenser (or all
the way open if you prefer).
• Aim the detergent bottle at the opening in the door and begin
to fill.
• The dispenser will hold 45 fluid ounces of liquid dishwasher
detergent (standard size bottle).
• A full dispenser will last approximately 2 months.
STOP
• Use ONLY the following liquid (or gel) automatic
dishwasher detergents in your SmartDispenser:
Cascade Pure Rinse®
Electrasol®
CAUTION!
Using other detergents than those listed above can result
in degraded wash performance and/or issues with the
performance of the SmartDispense system.

CLOSING THE SMARTDISPENSE RESERVOIR
• To close the SmartDispense
reservoir, place the cap over the
top of the access hole and turn
clockwise until the cap is tight.
OPENING THE SMARTDISPENSE CAP
• To open the cap covering the SmartDispense reservoir,
push down on the cap and turn counterclockwise. It takes
approximately 2 full turns to
disengage the cap from the
reservoir in the door. If you
do not push down, the cap
will spin freely and not loosen
from the reservoir.

CALIBRATING WATER HARDNESS

• The SmartDispense system will select detergent dosage
during the wash cycle based on water hardness.
• Follow the directions on the water hardness test strip
provided with the dishwasher to determine the hardness of
water in your home.
• The default water hardness setting programmed into the
dishwasher is “hard”. Use the water hardness test strip
provided with your dishwasher and follow the instructions on
page 11 in the Owner’s Manual to calibrate your dishwasher
for the water conditions in your home.
