Solutions for electronic
communication in the port
APCS is a network of systems and solutions for electronic
communication in the port of Antwerp. APCS permits exchange of
data between business to government (B2G), business to business (B2B)
and between government agencies (G2G). It has been developed in
partnership between the Antwerp Port Authority, customs and private
companies.
Communication through
standardized messages
• APCS facilitates efficient exchange of electronic messages and
information. It connects the Port Authority, customs, shippers,
shipping companies, shipping agents, forwarders, terminal operators,
road and rail carriers, barge operators and logistics service providers.
• The information exchange uses efficient, standardised and
exchangeable messages. The network supports EDI and XML versions
of electronic standard messages, as well as other formats including
scanned documents and documents generated in other ways.
• All participants keep working in their own applications but are
connected to the system using a unique identification. Via the
network they send and receive electronic messages to their business
partners and government agencies.
APCS encourages companies to use electronic communication in the
port of Antwerp for their logistics flows, to improve business processes
and to make logistics manageable and transparent.

message have access to the content.
Transparent & efficient supply
chains
• Electronic messages and solutions support the efficient handling of
day-to-day administrative and operational activities.
• Information can be processed much quicker, and the exact status of
the goods and the stage of processing are known.
• As the imported data and information are reused throughout the
logistics chain, electronic communication results in lower costs and
fewer errors.
• Both planning and operation are made more efficient.
