SPIRITUALITY & FAITH
FOLLOW IN THE FOOTSTEPS
OF CHRIST
The great fifty-day celebration
of Easter has concluded, as have the
feasts honoring the Holy Trinity and
the Body and Blood of Christ. Last
week we began a long stretch of Ordinary Time that will
bring us to late November.
Saint Paul tells us today that those who are baptized
“have clothed yourselves with Christ” (Galatians 3:27).
This scripture is echoed in the Church’s baptism ritual
when we sing, “You have put on Christ, in him you have
been baptized.” This message is inspiring and sobering at
the same time, for in today’s Gospel, we get to the heart
of what it means to be clothed in Christ. The Lord tells us,
“If anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny
himself and take up his cross daily and follow me” (Luke
9:23).
For the next twenty-two weeks we are called to take
up the cross and, with Saint Luke as our guide, follow in
the footsteps of Christ.
MASS TIME CHANGES
ATTENTION ALL PARISHIONERS:
Beginning July 1, 2016, the 6:30 AM
Word & Communion Services on
Fridays will become a Mass.
Beginning July 3, 2016, the Sunday
evening Life Teen Mass will be
celebrated at 5:00 PM.
PRAYER TO ST. PIUS X
Glorious Pope of the Eucharist, Saint Pius X, you sought "to restore all
things in Christ." Obtain for me a true love of Jesus so that I may live only
for Him. Help me to acquire a lively fervor and a sincere will to strive for
sanctity of life, and that I may avail myself of the riches of the Holy
Eucharist in sacrifice and sacrament. By your love for Mary, mother and
queen of all, inflame my heart with tender devotion to her. Blessed model
of the priesthood, obtain for us holy, dedicated priests, and increase
vocations to the religious life. Dispel confusion and hatred and anxiety,
and incline our hearts to peace and concord so that all nations will place
themselves under the sweet reign of Christ. Amen. Saint Pius X, pray for
us.
ATTENTION INCOMING FRESHMAN!!
If you have recently graduated from 8th grade and
are going into high school, we have a wonderful and
informative retreat just for you. Registration forms
are available in the Church office. If you would like
more information about this event, please contact
Stephanie Kristek at (210) 824-0139 ext. 206.

SAINT MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL

defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness
and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host,
by the Divine Power of God - cast into hell Satan and all the evil
spirits, who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.
