If you’ve ever wondered how one detail can change a story and turn it on its head, then Butterfly
Effect Productions are for you! You’ll get to act in the movie version of our twisted tale, which will
be shown in exciting segments at Noontime Shows throughout the session. This class is for all levels
of experience, so you’ll also learn all the basics of performing in front of a video camera as we

Animation Projects: ages 10-15 (limit 10)

Create imaginative films and unleash you creativity in Animation Projects. This class will allow you
to get a more depth experience learning the principles of animation and storytelling. We will build

Art of the Doll: ages 8-15 (limit 12)

Fashion a new friend in miniature. Create a doll from scratch and furnish them with a wardrobe fit
for their personality. Are they from the past, a fashion-forward trendsetter, or from a fantastical
land? Learn and perfect hand-sewing techniques while you design, make and style your doll,

Big City of Dreams: ages 8-15 (limit 10)

In this collaborative art class we design, plan and build the city of our dreams. Our city will have
both practical elements (such as a fire station, school, and Creative Arts program of course) and
elements of pure imagination! Maybe we don’t need roads if we all travel by hovercraft, or
maybe there is a rollercoaster in the center of town. Your dreams will shape our city. Instructor(s):

Charles River Rocks: ages 8-11 (limit 10)

Whether you have been playing piano for 10 years or just started playing the guitar a few months
ago Charles River Rocks wants you! As a class we will decide what songs we want to learn and
then perform them in front of the whole camp! This is a great class for beginning players to

Choose Your Own Adventure: ages 8-15 (limit 12)

Create an adventure story that will involve lots of quick decisions. At each crossroad, the
audience chooses the next step for the characters. The ensemble acts out the results, even as the
choices lead to stranger and stickier situations. If you love to think up wild plots and have a blast
performing, this is the place to be. Our contagiously convoluted creation debuts on Festival Day.

You will experiment with clay in a variety of ways; from practical, functional vessels to imaginative
sculptures. We will explore slab construction, press, mold and hand building and generally have

Contemporary Dance: ages 12-15 (limit 12)

If learning original choreography, developing your technique, exploring creative expression
through your body and connecting viscerally with modern musical styles gets your blood flowing,
this is your class. We focus on creating a riveting contemporary ensemble-based dance
performance while deepening our technical abilities. Previous dance experience is suggested.

The challenge is to create a hi-fashion look from a grab bag of fabrics and trims! The trick is to use
all the items in your bag in one fashionable look. The designers will sketch their ideas and the staff
will help them draft patterns and construct their designs. Your project builds to a Festival Day

Daily Double: ages 8-15 (limit 18)

Join the staff of Dover’s longest-running newspaper. We put out an issue every day, and need
reporters to create the articles, stories, quizzes, advice columns, political editorials, movie reviews,
and sports updates that the entire camp will be talking about. Collaborate with friends and
photographers for your more ambitious ideas. If you want a fast-paced environment where your
work will reach hundreds of readers, then consider joining the ranks of this esteemed publication.

Anyone who is interested in learning to play the drums, or has already taken drum lessons and
would like to continue to learn and improve their skills, is welcome to join. Campers take turns

Physics concepts and engineering come together to make things that roll, fling, and fly. Make your

The triumphant return of an old favorite! In the tradition of “This is Spinal Tap”, “The Office”, and
“Parks and Recreation”, this class will create situations, characters, and stories whose lives will
unfold, hilariously, before the camera. Conduct comical interviews, improvise intricate scenes, and

Paper Sculpture: ages 8-15 (limit 12)

This class will explore all the flexibility, strength and beauty of creating with paper. We will build
models and pop ups, fold origami and make mechanical models all out of paper. If there is

Pinhole Cameras: ages 8-15 (limit 10)

Ever wonder how a camera works? In pinhole photography we not only learn how cameras work
but we build our own functioning cameras! We take you into the darkroom and build off the raw
basics of photography. Using common household and found materials, we build pinhole cameras
and use photo chemicals to develop paper negatives, producing silver gelatin prints. Discover not
only the hands-on art of “old school” film developing but also the core principles of photographic

In this magical musical journey the class will form a band and explore musical genres. We will take
popular songs and revive them with new tones and beats. Take pop songs and turn them into soft

Short Story Workshop: ages 8-15 (limit 10)

A great short story can create a tiny universe, bring you into the mind of a unique character, or
end with a plot twist that makes readers want to go back to the beginning and start again. In this
class, we will write short fiction, getting guidance on every step of the process from brainstorming
to publishing. Along the way, we will help you pursue your individual goals; are you trying to make
people laugh? Cry? Think deep thoughts about the nature of existence? We can help you make

Showtunes: ages 8-11 (limit 12)

Let your voice be heard! In this class, we will learn classic and contemporary show tunes from
Broadway and beyond that introduce young actors to singing in a group and using choreography
to set a scene and tell a story. This troupe will experience the fun of connecting with each other on
stage while making music. We will perform a combination of full and small group songs on festival

Soccer: ages 8-11 (limit 16)

Develop the fundamentals of soccer through exciting skill drills, scrimmages and games. Play the

Social Protest Storytelling: ages 11-15 (limit 12)

How can we understand and discuss social and political questions through theater? Join this class
if you want to act, write, direct, and say something new! Classic works of theatre and new
mythologies like Disney, all shine light on problems in society. We will deconstruct these forms and
create new works which reflect our own ideas. What would happen if we switched the genders of
all the characters in Macbeth? How could a Disney princess story be rewritten to be about climate

Swimming Levels 4-6: ages 8-15 (limit 12)

Following a swim test on the first day, campers receive the appropriate level of Red Cross swim
instruction with plenty of one-on-one attention. Intermediate swimmers learn to swim the
breaststroke and sidestroke while working to perfect the front crawl stroke, the back crawl stroke,
and the elementary backstroke. Advanced swimmers learn the butterfly while working to perfect
the front crawl stroke, back crawl stroke, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, and sidestroke.

Get an introduction to the emerging, exciting world of 3D Printing! Engineer strange insects, bizarre
fruits, and anything that your mind conjures up! Students will sketch out their designs, learn to break
them down into simple geometries, and then use their knowledge to create unique accessories

A Cappella: ages 8-15 (limit 20)

If you love to sing modern, pop, rock, R & B and jazz music, you will love A Cappella. We will learn
about this unique form of music with a history as old as humans have been around. We listen to a
variety of amazing vocal groups, study intricate harmonies, work on blending as an ensemble and
make beautiful music. This class performs in Noontime Shows and on Festival Day. Previous vocal

Think friendship bracelets and hair wraps…then, think bigger! In A String Thing!, we will take fiber
arts to a whole new level. We will learn intricate macrame, delicate embroidery, and take our

A fun, athletic class emphasizing lyrical jazz styles to traditional and contemporary jazz music. The
skills you learn in Jazz Dance will help you with musicals and other dance styles. Some dance

We’ll be whipping up all the crazy props the theater and media classes need. Have a blast
creating wedding cakes, movie cameras, campfires, giant erasers, and who knows what else.

If you are a songwriter, composer, sound engineer, or musician then this is where you want to be
3rd period. In this class we will write our own original songs and record them! At the end of the
session we will have created a CD that we can go home and listen to during the year. We will
focus on the songwriting and sound production more than the live performance. We will try many
different styles of recording and explore what techniques sound best on each type of song; room
mics, MIDI instruments, multi-tracking, click tracks, and more. Great tunes, great sound, great CD,

The year is 2045 and the world faces catastrophe. Meteors hurtling towards Earth, extra-terrestrial
invaders, you name it, its going down. CRCAP has assembled an elite team of campers to
document these disasters in weekly video updates. You could be a news anchor, zombie hunter,

Oh the many things that paint can do. This class will explore the possibilities of paint. Paint what

Performance Sports Laboratory: ages 10-15 (limit 10)

Every single game that is played today, had to be thought up before you could play. Be it classics
like soccer tennis or football, r fantastical or new, like Quidditch or Wall Ball. So are you Creative?
So are you creative? Love to play sports? Is that you? Or maybe it's the perfect blend between
the two. So join Performance Sports Play Laboratory, and let's start at a beginning and make

A picture is worth a thousand words, so let’s tell a story!! Working in partnership with the Daily
Double, kids will take pictures relating to camp news that will then be published for the whole
camp to see and enjoy! We will work not only on candid photography but also on titling and
captioning our photos. Photojournalists will work both on individual exhibitions and group projects.

The big musical is performed the evening before and the evening of Festival Day on our
enchanting outdoor Festival Stage. Our productions feature fabulous costumes, sets, a staff pit
orchestra and professional lighting/sound. Campers must commit to TWO PERIODS (2nd and 3rd)
of rehearsal time. The last week of each session will include evening rehearsals. Auditions take
place on the first two days of each session. For the audition, prepare a short poem or reading and

A theatre class for younger actors trying to explore their skills and pick up a few new ones! We'll

mood board to help you sketch out and finalize a collection of fashion illustrations under your

Plan, design, and create your own functional board game! We will figure out the basic
components of a “great board game” together, and then you will be free to decide how to make
your dream game a reality. The process could include drawing, painting, constructing, figurine

This class will give you an introduction to Hip Hop techniques. Join the fiercest dance crew at

Land of the Giants: ages 10-15 (limit 10)

Ever wonder what it would be like to visit a world where giants live? A pencil would be taller than
you, a candy bar would never fit in your stomach, and a cell phone would be the size of an arm
chair! In this class, we’ll make sculptures of ordinary objects that are literally ten times their normal
size. Cardboard, glue guns, utility knives and paper maché are just some of the materials we will
be using to create these huge structures. Instructor(s): Mary Oliviera

How do artists choose what materials to use? By experimenting with anything and everything that
crosses their paths, of course! We will experiment with and explore a variety of unusual and

Mini-Musical: ages 8-15 (limit 12)

We will be creating our own original mini musical: our own story, songs and dances, completely
from scratch. No previous experience is necessary, though a strong desire to be in a musical is
definitely needed. After this class, you can tell all your friends you wrote and performed your very

Build floats, join a bicycle brigade, and be a featured attraction of the fabulous CRCAP Arts
Festival Opening Ceremony. Parade blends arts, engineering, drama and collboration to create
the amazing spectacle that kicks of Festival Day. Woodworking, paper mache, painting, and

Playwriting: ages 8-15 (limit 12)

Learn to write a script and craft snappy, dramatic dialogue. Whether your dream project is a sci-fi
epic, ridiculous comedy, or a musical about a Founding Father, we will give you the tools,
feedback, and supportive fellow playwrights who will help you realize your vision. We’ll think about
what makes a great scene, and how your play will be interpreted by a director. One of the best
things about writing a script is that you get to hear your words performed, so we will end with a

This class will introduce the tools and techniques to create audio for video. Using computers, MIDI
controllers, simple recording gear and audio software like Audacity, Garage Band, iMovie and
Quicktime, we will create our own original soundtracks. We will cover simple compositional
techniques like creating a successful phrase and using harmony and tone color. We then will
introduce sound effects and use Audacity plugins to “sculpt” sound and discuss ways of creating
a “targeted” sound that can accompany an emotional or dramatic situation. Through the course,
the emphasis will be on using new concepts as they are learned to accompany existing video.
