Little Green Steps Recycled Crafts

“Play It Again”
Try making these fun crafts made from recycled materials:
Oatmeal Box Tunnel
Have a grown-up cut a cylindrical oatmeal box in half lengthwise to create a
car or train tunnel. Decorate the outside of the box with crayons or stickers!
Tin Can Herb Pot
Use an old tin can to grow herbs in! Wrap your can in paper or paint it to decorate. Have a grown-up make a hole in the bottom of the can for drainage.
Fill with bottom with gravel and top with soil, then plant seeds or plants.
Place your herb pot in a sunny window and enjoy.
Colorful Water Bottle Vase
Have a grown-up cut the top off and remove the label from a plastic water
bottle. Mix a solution of ¼ cup glue and 2 tablespoons of water.
Paint a small area of the bottle with the glue mixture and cover with a strip of
colored tissue paper. Repeat until the whole bottle is covered with glue and
different colored tissue paper.

Sock Puppets
Add a construction
paper nose cone and

roll covered in colored
paper to make a rocket!
Secure a 3 inch square of wax paper around one
end of a paper towel tube with a rubber band.
Add dried rice or beans and crumpled pieces of
aluminum foil to the tube and seal the open end
the same way as the bottom. Decorate the tube,
then shake it and listen to the rain!
Glue or sew buttons and fabric
scraps on the toes. Use fabric
pens or markers to draw faces.
Then, make a theater out of a
large cardboard box and stage
a recycled puppet show!
