Welcome
Dear Friends,
We want to thank each of you for coming to “A Graceful Evening,” as
church and school families come together to celebrate and support the
education in faith, academics and character that students receive at
Grace Lutheran School.
By your presence here tonight you demonstrate that education at Grace
Lutheran School is a shared effort between teachers, students, parents
and congregation. Together we place our trust in God’s promise in
Proverbs 22:6: “Train children in the right way, and when old, they will
not stray.”
A Christ-centered education at Grace embraces the whole student—
mind, body and spirit—and inspires a life-long passion for learning. It
provides a foundation for success in the classroom, but more importantly
it prepares our students for discipleship beyond the classroom. Our
mission at Grace Lutheran Church and School is to “bring in, build up,
and send out disciples for Christ.” The continuing tradition of excellence
in education at Grace Lutheran School is an essential part of that
mission.
The funds you help us raise tonight will make possible the purchase of a
new math curriculum and provide additional resources to support quality
instruction. With your generous support, Grace Lutheran School
students can continue to “grow in grace and wisdom,” as the 2012-2013
school year theme states.
We hope you enjoy the fellowship, food and fun at “A Graceful
Evening,” and we offer our heartfelt thanks to you for your generosity
and support of our event.
God’s blessings,
Candice Hill Buchbinder, Mary Jane Keitel, Miriam Moore, Chairs
Clyde Andrew Walter, Director of Stewardship
Thank you
We wish to thank our Grace Lutheran Church and School community–
our pastors, teachers and administrators, school parents and church
members for their remarkable commitment to our students, our school

Grace Math Curriculum
Quick! How do you find the area of an isosceles triangle? What’s 3/4
divided by 2? What’s a mean and what’s a median?
Do you still remember the math you learned in school? Some of us grow
up to be engineers and accountants and use complex math all the time,
but all of us use the thinking and reasoning skills gained from nightly
struggles with word problems and math facts. In today’s world, everyone
needs to be able to read charts, shop for a mortgage, and understand
probability. Math matters, and that’s why it’s so important for Grace
students and teachers to work with the best and most up-to-date math
materials available.
Proceeds from the “Paddles Up!” math curriculum auction will enable
Grace School to purchase a new math curriculum for grades 1-5. The
new McGraw-Hill My Math curriculum will offer students many ways to
master the math concepts they’ll need to succeed in school and in life.
The lessons build on the latest research on how kids gain mathematical
knowledge and skills. The curriculum is customized for the way teachers
teach, personalized for the way students learn, and individualized to
maximize student success.
Besides teacher’s manuals and student consumable textbooks, the
curriculum includes manipulatives, CDs, and additional materials for
teaching math to students with diverse learning styles. The more money
we raise tonight, the more “extras” we can buy!

moving from orange to yellow towards the arms and top. Surrounding
the cross are prints in shades of blue and aqua. Each child's name is
written in his or her handprint. This stunning and colorful reminder of
Christ's love for us would be a great piece of art for the den or your child's
bedroom.

Lots. Silent auction items are grouped in categories. Items are described
in the auction guide along with any terms, conditions, or restrictions
associated with the item(s) in the lot. All items are sold "AS IS." Products
and/or services may have restrictions or qualifications specified by the
donor so please read the auction guide carefully. Terms are not
negotiable. The suggested value listed for each lot is intended as an
estimate and does not constitute a valuation for tax purposes for fair
market value.
Bidding procedures. Each silent auction lot is accompanied by a bid
sheet. To bid on a lot, guests will print their name, bid number, and
phone number next to the amount of their bid. Bidding must begin at
the suggested starting level and must advance in increments as indicated
on the individual bid sheets. Each new bid must be written on the first
available blank line of the bid sheet. All bids are binding.
Closing. Silent auction bidding will close at varying times beginning at
8:15 p.m. and continuing until all categories are closed at about 9:00 p.m.
These times will be posted and/or announced throughout the evening.
The highest bid at the close of the auction will be circled. Each auction
lot will go to the highest bidder. The winner will be given an item receipt
to take to checkout.
Disputes. If two or more bidders are still competing on a Silent Auction
lot at the close of bidding, the last bid on the sheet shall become the fixed
price for the auction lot. In the event of a dispute, the auction official shall
act as the final authority and shall determine the winning bidder. This
decision is final. Auction officials solely retain the right to disqualify or
nullify a bid.
Payment. Payment by winning bidder will be accepted only at the close
of the auction. Cash and local checks will be accepted for all purchases.
Credit cards (MasterCard, Visa) will be accepted for purchases exceeding
$50.00. All items must be paid IN FULL auction night. All checks should
be made payable to Grace Lutheran Church and School.

(someone you know who will be present at the end of the auction). The
absentee bidder takes responsibility for accepting the item, paying for it,
and removing it.
Checkout will take place from 8:15 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. At checkout, you
will be given your certificate or a sales receipt to take back to the auction
table to retrieve your item(s). Lots in the form of gift certificates or other
claim documents will be presented to winner at checkout.
Returns. All sales are final. No returns will be accepted.
Removal of purchases. All auction items must be removed from the
premises by 11:00 p.m. on March 31, 2012. Items may be removed by

estimate and does not constitute a valuation for tax purposes for fair
market value.

This number is registered to you. Bidding is done by raising your auction
guide and displaying your bidder number to the auctioneer. Bid
increments are at the discretion of the auctioneer. All Live Auction bids
