What Sufis believe and how they live –
My experiences with the peacemaking force of Sufism
General-Anzeiger, 19.03.2016
Ahmed Kreusch, a longtime German Sufi, gave a fascinating report about his
experiences with the peacemaking force of Sufism, the mystical dimension of Islam.
Sufism is also called "the heart of Islam."
Announcements of this UPF event in the Bonn City Event Calendar and in the local
newspaper “General-Anzeiger” attracted a very diverse and international crowd.
After some major ups and downs in his personal life, Kreusch had been attracted by
Islam and became a student of a Sufi master in 1980. Mr. Kreusch explained about a
number of common points between different religions, particularly the monotheistic
ones. He candidly spoke about some personal experiences and how a Sufi can be
touched in his innermost part by God’s love and mercy.
Mr. Kreusch also presented a number of his calligraphies in Arabic script which
beautifully addressed various elements of his faith.
The subsequent lively discussion with and among the audience showed that the
attendees had a keen interest in getting to know different faiths and in developing
ways of mutual understanding and cooperation. This gave confidence and encourages
the future work of UPF.
