Teacher: Ashley Johnson Subject: AP Biology Date: October 19-23, 2015 Date: Oct 19 Monday Objective (Essential Question) TSW be able to describe, discussion, and demonstrate an understanding of the following: 1. Metabolic pathways 2. Laws of Energy Transformation 3. How ATP powers cellular work 4. Enzyme structure and function 5. Harvesting chemical energy: glycolysis, citric acid cycle, oxidative phosphorylation 6. Light reactions and the Calvin cycle 7. Evolution of alternative mechanism of carbon fixation 1.A Change in the genetic makeup of a population over time is evolution. 1.D The origin of living systems is explained by natural processes. 2.a.1 All living systems require constant input of free energy. 2.a.2 Organisms capture and store free energy for use in biological processes. 2.B Growth, reproduction and maintenance of the organization of living systems require free energy and matter. 4.A Interactions within biological systems lead to complex properties. 4.B.1: Interactions between molecules affect their structure and function. 4.B Competition and cooperation are important biological systems. Standards (Frameworks) Task Analysis TSW discuss the results from the lab they use germinated peas, dry peas, crickets (inquiry), and glass beads to conduct the College Board AP Biology Lab 6. Procedures/ Strategies Homework Assignment Materials TTW lead a classroom discussion on the cellular respiration lab results. TTW provide sample data for students to analyze. Closure Assessment Responses to Guided Reading questions, correct diagrams and concept maps, laboratory results from experiments Cellular respiration diagram & Concept Map, Cellular Respiration lab investigation and report Cellular Respiration (Bozeman Science) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gh2P5CmCC0M Cellular Respiration (Electron Transport Chain) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xbJ0nbzt5Kw Electron Transport Chain http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lRlTBRPv6xM Cell Respiration Song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3aZrkdzrd04 AP Bio Lab: Cellular Respiration (Bozeman) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9o_VdToClE Cellular Respiration Diagram & Concept Map Cellular Respiration Lab (College Board) http://media.collegeboard.com/digitalServices/pdf/ap/bio-manual/Bio_Lab6CellularRespiration.pdf Reference Lab Handout http://biologycorner.com/worksheets/cellular_respiration_AP_Lab5.html Where does cellular respiration take place? TSW complete the photosynthesis diagram and concept map. TSW work in two groups of three to conduct the lab to investigate the processes of photosynthesis and chromatography. TSW use leaves and light sources to conduct the College Board AP Biology Lab 5. TTW lead a class discussion on the overall process of photosynthesis, provide PowerPoint and guided reading to aide in note taking. TTW also assist students while the construct diagrams and complete concept maps. TTW monitor and facilitate students while they conduct the lab experiment on photosynthesis.
