Fishing remains at peak with large catches of savage king mackerel, boisterous bonito, powerful black tip and lemon sharks, numerous Spanish mackerel and tackle busting cobia. Throw in a few nice bottom species like grouper and triggerfish and you have a non-stop fish catching marathon that puts a smile on your face and sweat on the poor captain’s brow. Simultaneous multiple hook ups with multiple species have been the rule all week long. We’ve even had some critters hooked on multiple lines like the hark that struck three baits while we were locked into combat with the monster barracuda whose been wolfing down Chuck Bittinger, left, John McCarthy and Ken Boggs of Bradenton recently caught a sailfish 12 15-pound bonito. miles out in 50 feet of water using a live blue runner and 20-pound test while aboard Show Me Wolfmouth Charters the Fish Charters. I have not been fishing for anything else. On the hook, I‘ve been using blue crabs and dark flies, but they’re eating about anything. There are all up and down the beaches from the north tip of Longboat Key to Charlotte Harbour. I’ve been catching mine around Twin Rock and Rocky Point. Tight Lines Sportfishing Captain Larry McGuire It’s been going really good. We’re catching gag grouper, red grouper, black grouper, scamp grouper, mangrove snapper, yellowtail snapper and red snapper fishing out to 50 miles and 140 feet. Fishing closer in at about 20 miles, we’re catching lots of black tip sharks, lemon sharks and reef sharks. There have also been lots of snapper, triggerfish, permit, little tunas and even barracudas. We’re using a variety of live baits, such as Spanish sardines, pass crabs and shrimp.
