D6 THURSDAY, APRIL 26, 2012 /// THE ENQUIRER WRESTLING ALL-STARS SELECTED BY MIKE DYER BASED ON RECOMMENDATIONS FROM AREA COACHES DIVISION II WRESTLER OF THE YEAR Chaz Gresham, Goshen: The senior was dominant once again this season with a perfect, 32-0, record. He was a league, sectional, and district champion. Gresham also captured his second state title this year at the state tournament, winning at 182 pounds. DIVISION II COACH OF THE YEAR Deron Shinkle, New Richmond: He led his team to a conference and sectional title. The Lions finished third at the district tournament and qualified four to the state tournament. DIVISION III WRESTLER OF THE YEAR Travis Boyd, Blanchester: The junior was a Southern Buckeye Conference champion, sectional champion, and finished fifth at the state tournament. THE COMMUNITY PRESS/NICK DUDUKOVICH DIVISION I WRESTLER OF THE YEAR Joey Ward, Moeller: The senior was the state champion at132 pounds. He was named the Division I wrestler of the state meet. He was 47-3 this season and 89-12 over his two-year career at Moeller. He has signed with North Carolina. DIVISION I COACH OF THE YEAR Jeff Gaier, Moeller: He led Moeller to a third-place finish at the state meet. The Crusaders were district champions and sectional champions. COACH OF THE YEAR Kelly Wones, Mason: She led the Comets to a fourth place finish at the state meet at Hilliard Bradley - the highest state finish in program history. FIRST TEAM Northwest’s Rickey Bender had a 300 game this year. THE ENQUIRER/TONY JONES McAuley’s Alyssa Estep had a 201 average. ENQUIRER/TONY JONES BOYS’ BOWLER OF THE YEAR GIRLS’ BOWLER OF THE YEAR Rickey Bender, Northwest: The senior had a 219.5 overall average, 226.2 match average and a 206 postseason average. He was the Fort Ancient Valley Conference West bowler of the year as he averaged an 229.6 on his home lanes. BOYS’ COACH OF THE YEAR Jason Shattuck, Oak Hills: In his first year as coach, his team won the Greater Miami Conference with a conference record of 8-1 and had an overall record of 12-3. The Highlanders won the Big Blue, Holiday Classic at Western Bowl, Bearcat High School Classic and the Lancer Baker tournaments. FIRST TEAM Drew Gay, Lakota West: The junior had a 220.9 overall average, 224.4 match average and a 197.3 postseason average. He was the GMC bowler of the year. Alex Obermeyer, Northwest: The senior had a 212.9 overall average, 217.9 match average and a 214.3 postseason average. Daniel Oehler, Moeller: The senior had a 210.0 overall average, 215.8 match average and a 200.3 postseason average. He was the Greater Catholic League South division bowler of the year. COACH OF THE YEAR Adam Tramonte, St. Xavier: He led the Bombers (20-9-1) to an undefeated Southwest Ohio High School Hockey League South division championship for the first time in the history of the school’s program. FIRST TEAM Heather Scott, Fairfield: The senior had a 199.4 overall average, 203.9 match average and a 188.9 postseason average. Jessica Homer, McAuley: The senior had a 195.7 overall average, 200.2 match average and a 188.1 postseason average. Amy Feie, Mercy: The senior had a 194.8 overall average, 202.1 match average and a 185.6 postseason average.
