Bottom of hanger extends past bottom flange of steel beam to stop hanger rotation Bottom of hanger stops short of bottom flange of steel beam NO RESISTANCE TO ROTATION please refer to fig 2 & 4 GENERAL NOTES 1. All I-Joist to I-Joist safe working loads are based on I-Joist headers with fully nailed backer blocks (refer to “I-Joist manufacturers” fixing detail) 2. No web stiffeners were used to achieve safe working loads stated (I-Joist manufacturer may require web stiffeners) 3. Use only 3.75 x 30mm sherardised square twist nails 4. Safe working loads quoted are the maximum hanger capacity. 5. All safe working loads derived from tests witnessed and verified by TimberSolve Limited. 6. When multiple joists are used they must be connected together to act as a single unit (refer to “I-Joist manufacturers” fixing detail) 7. Safe working load allowed without backer blocks is 1.8kN up to 245mm deep joists and 1.4kN on joists greater than 245mm deep. 8. Where fixings are required to a steel beam a minimum of 38 x 89mm timber wallplate must be fixed to the steel and the TFI fixed to this using the top nails and the upper face nails only (8no. Nails in total) fig 1. & fig 2. In this situation the safe working load is 4.2kN 9. Where fixings are required directly to a steel beam the TFI can be shot fired directly into the steel beam (maximum steel thickness 12mm) using 4no. X-EDNI16 Hilti nails or equivalent, into the top fix hanger top flanges (2no. fixings per leg). In this situation the safe working load is 6kN Page 23
