To write letter of recommendation for college and scholarships Assist students with finding a school that is the “Right Fit” Most colleges/universities want to see at least 5 academic classes the senior year. Competition for admission is extremely competitive! Students should check with their colleges before dropping/eliminating academic classes. WHAT IS THE STUDENT’S ROLE IN THE APPLICATION PROCESS? Students are responsible for sending Test Scores Create an appropriate e-mail address. Use for applications, Family Connections and Common App. Be aware of each colleges requirement and deadlines. Complete and submit application before deadline (don’t wait until the last minute). Follow SVHS College Application Process Check each college’s scholarship webpage, Family Connections and the College and Career page for scholarship lists. THE UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND APPLICATION Priority deadline is November 1st. Submit by this date for best chance to be considered for Honors, Gemstone, Scholars, and Merit Scholarships. 95% of the class will be selected from these applicants. Test scores need to be sent directly from the test centers to College Park. Request by October 1st. Request official transcript by October 1st. MONTGOMERY COLLEGE Application online beginning October 1st – March 1st, 2017 FREE. Due date for the Scholars Program and Macklin Program is in January 2017. Separate Applications! MC offers Associate’s degree and Certificate programs. Students MUST take the Accuplacer if they do not have an ACT or SAT score higher then a 20 for the ACT and a 500 for the SAT Take assessment tests before registration No need to request transcript to apply.
