Your gift brought a sense of calm to David’s world
David is Sleeping Well
David couldn’t sleep. He was too frightened and worried. His mom
had been arrested- again. David had been hiding upstairs listening
to his mom yell at the police officers. He heard her sreaming in the
police car as it drove away. He didn’t mind staying at his
grandparents’ house but he laid awake in the night wondering if his
mom was ok in jail.
David felt sick
David’s mom was rail thin. She looked

his mom when they went to the store and
he didn’t like it. He wished people wouldn’t stare at her.
David’s grandparents were angrier than he had ever seen them.
They yelled at the officers telling them they couldn’t take anymore.
They told the police they were too old to raise a kid. They said they
were “done.” David felt sick thinking about what might happen in the
morning.
David would still be losing sleep if not for your help. You gave David
the gift of an advocate who connected David and his grandparents
with supportive services, including counseling & after school help.
Because of you David’s world is calmer and his grandparents can
take good care of him. Because of you David is sleeping well.

You helped Lin build a safe relationship with her mother
Lin Is Back at School
Lin was on her way to the emergency room. She was ok but her father
wanted “a record.” As soon as she returned from her mom’s house, her
father had inspected her from head to foot and angrily demanded she tell
him where the red mark on her cheek came from. Before she could tell
him what happened, he took a picture. Lin knew there would be a thousand
questions when they got to the ER. She didn’t want to go to the ER.
It was true, her mom had slapped her for talking back.
She hated
Lin would have given anything to get out of telling the

ER nurse. She hated the questions and she hated how
Her dad kept telling everyone how awful her mom was.
It wasn’t like her father was a saint, especially when he was drinking. Last
month, he got mad at her teacher and took her out of school. Lin was
overwhelmed & sad.
Her situation would have continued to deteriorate if you hadn’t stepped in to
make sure Lin had an advocate. You made it possible for Lin to be reenrolled in school and build a safe relationship with her mom utilizing inhome therapeutic services. Her dad isn’t drinking as much & Lin is happier.
Thanks to you Lin can get back to being her goofy self.
