REDEYE’S BATTLE OF THE BURGER 2014
Restaurants Old Fashioned Double Stack Burger Finishes in Top Five
ROSEMONT, Ill., Aug. 21, 2014–Shelby Campbell’s Almost Famous restaurant
in Elk Grove Village, Ill., operated by First Hospitality Group, Inc. (FHG), finished in the
top five finalists for RedEye’s annual Battle of the Burgers. The competition, now in its
second year, pits Chicago’s best burger restaurants against each other. First Hospitality
Group President and COO Bob Habeeb made the announcement.
Shelby Campbell’s Almost Famous restaurant was voted to compete as one of
15 finalists in a field of over 100 of Chicago-area restaurants. Chef Felipe DeSantiago
prepared the restaurant’s signature Old Fashioned Double Stack Burger for a hungry
crowd in downtown Chicago at Lizzie McNeill’s on Wednesday, Aug. 20.
“We’re proud of our culinary team and general manager Tina Durfor at Shelby
Campbell’s and thankful for all of the participants who voted for our Old Fashioned
Double Stack Burger,” said Habeeb. “Chicago is home to some of the best restaurants
around, and we consider it an honor to have our food awarded amongst the top five.
We’re really looking forward to competing against some of the area’s finest burgers
again next year.”
The restaurant was named after the eccentric Chicago-native Shelby Campbell,
who tried and failed at several different things that made him “almost famous,” including
running for president and writing a screenplay. Today, Shelby Campbell’s Almost
