Spring Break is upon us...look at all these Hawkeyes
ANNOUNCEMENTS
o Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for you help at the Admitted Students Days, they went awesome!
o Apparel Order - If you want to order apparel we will be sending out a link. The order forms will be open
from now until March 23rd!
o Clumpy Oatmeal – Remember, we want you all to get to know other people and be welcoming. When
you clump together in groups it can be overwhelming. Try spreading out at visit days and not just
standing in groups with other STARs.

The Pomerantz Career Center is here for you. They are open Monday through Friday from 8am-5pm each day.
They have advisors for student who need help writing resumes and cover letters, finding internships and jobs, or
just helping you explore all your options. They have an awesome Career Center website online that will update
you on the latest news and also connect you to the HireaHawk website. They also have classes available through
the Career Center that are part of the Career Leadership Academy.
Continuing Training
How Tours Work- The tours go on a Rolling Basis, once there are enough people they just go.
o Bus Tours – Go around the east and west side showing off all of campus including Carver, Westlawn, the
arts building and Hancher. The busses are scheduled to leave from 8-9AM and again from 1-3PM.
o Walking Tours – Travel around east side much like the one you participated in. They go from 8-8:45AM
and again from 1-3PM.
o Residence Halls Tours – Will be happening from 11-12:30 at the upcoming visit days. They talk about the
residence halls and show them a dorm room.
o If you or they have any questions about tours send them to the Tour Guide Hub by the fireplace.
Activities on Campus! - There are so many activities happening at any time all around Campus and Iowa City. Don’t
know what to do for the night? Check out these awesome links…

Executive Board Elections are Coming in HOT
o The descriptions of each position will be posted on the STAR website. Next meeting we will be Slating (picking
which positions you are interested) next meeting, March 30th, via a Qualtrics Form. The elections will be held on
April 13th. Each person will stand up for their top two positions and talk about why they will be a good fit for that
position. If you are interested in a job with the admission center 3 of the positions are appointed and you can
find more information on those job descriptions as well.

Hillcrest is obviously the better dining hall, and my favorite meal there is pot roast with a hopefully ripe
but not bruised banana and a double chocolate cookie.
What’s the most absurd food you’ve ever eaten?
One time I went to a birthday party at an elk farm, and after letting us see and pet the elk they had us
eat elk sausage, so I guess that was absurd.

ASD’s are over! Here come JHVDs! There is something different about JHVD events. First off, we stay in the Main
Lounge all day. The students will not be going on their academic sessions until after lunch, until then they will be
in the Main Lounge. We have 900 + Students already signed up for the March 25th day and the April 1st day.
Scheduling for these events will come with your staffing email!
o PLEASE be safe if you’re traveling for Spring Break
o Think about leadership positions!
o Adopt a Class has 6 outstanding letters, please send those in!
