Online Registration Procedures
For City University of Hong Kong – College of Business Students (Student Exchange Programmes)
1. Register an Account
1.1 Go to “Register for a Test” to create the account for entering personal
particulars
1.2 You must enter your name as it appears in your passport or ID
document. (This is how your name will appear on your test results).
Once you’ve successfully registered your details will be held and fields
pre-populated when you book a test. If you have no last name, you
need to enter a dash (-) in the Last Name field.
* You are required to provide your mobile number and home number
(if any). Number must contain a leading + sign and area code (e.g. +
852 for Hong Kong) followed by numbers and no more than 15 digits
in length. There should be no space between the digits (e.g.
+85291234567)
* Postal Code / Zip is a mandatory field. There is no postal code for
Hong Kong, please type “na” on this field.
1.3 Click on “Please read Terms and Conditions” to read the Terms and
Conditions (You must agree to the Terms and Conditions by
“checking” the box in order to book a test, and close the window once
Terms and Conditions have been accepted)
1.4 Double check if all the information is correct. Click “Confirm” to
process, or “edit” to modify your information.
1.5 A default password will be sent to your email account automatically.
2. Login your Account
2.1 Login your account (The User Name is your email address registered
for IELTS application); Re-enter your details and try logging in again if
you cannot login.
2.2 You have to change your password when you next sign in to the online
registration system.
* If you have forgotten my password, simply select “Reset Password
Here” and follow the prompts.
* * You can change password anytime. Mouse over your email
address at the top in the grey bar beneath the IDP IELTS Australia
logo to “Change Password” and follow the prompts.
2.3 Check the box to agree the Terms and condition again, Click “Save” to
process.
3. Book a Test
3.1 To book and pay for a test click “Book a Test” and follow the prompts.
The booking and payment portal will timeout after 1 day (24 hours) if
the application and payment details are not completed. If this happens
you will need to start the booking process once again.
* You can update your details via the My Account area located in the
grey bar beneath the IELTS logo, or by clicking on the “Update
Details” button
3.2 An Online Registration Checklist will be popped up, close the message
box after you have read through the checklist
* Please have the following items available:

A valid ID document (HKID/Passport)
*A digital file (PDF or JPEG format) of your HKID/Passport
Payment Method: Credit card (MasterCard/Visa)
Information of previous IELTS test - Test Date, Test Centre Name
and Number (if applicable)
5. A digital file (JPEG format) of your passport-sized photo taken
within 6 months (it is required to be sent to test centre within 5 days
upon registration)
* The digital copy of your ID document must include the following
information

Image of yourself as seen in/on ID document
Your name as seen in/on the ID document
Your date of birth
Signature (if it appears in/on ID document)
3.3 Select the Test Centre Information and Click on “Find Sessions”.
(Sessions at a given Centre will not appear if there is no test on a
given date, or if the test session is full.)
* If you are in doubt as to which module to take, you should contact
the organisation you are applying to in order to check their

* If the test date you require is not listed you should contact the test
centre at 2827 6362 to check the availability
4. Complete the Candidate Details, Application Details
4.1 Complete your Personal Details in the “My Details” section
4.2 Upload your Digital ID
4.3 Enter your Passport or Identity Card details and upload the copy of the
Identification Document in JPG format.
* Close the window when you have finished uploading, and Click
“Continue”
* You must bring the ID document indicated to the test. This is the
only form of identification that will be accepted on the test day. The
document must be valid/not expired at registration and on the test day.
* Candidates taking the test outside their own country must present a
current passport. For candidates from Macau or Mainland China,
please use passport for IELTS registration
* If you do not have a passport or Hong Kong Identity Card you will not
be able to book your test online. Please contact the test centre at 2827
6362 for advice.
4.4 * You should enter your postal address at the Address Field. Please
note you will only be sent ONE copy of your results. Please ensure
the correct mailing address is given, since your results will be sent to
this address.
4.5 If you have taken IELTS in the last 2 years, please select “Yes” option
and enter the most recent IELTS test details
* If you are unsure or cannot remember the details where or when you
have taken IELTS before, please select “No” option.
* If you cannot find the previous test centre on the list, please select
“No” option and contact us at 2827 6362. You will be required to send
the copy of previous Test Report Form to us by email.
4.6 Some IELTS candidates have special requirements which make it
difficult for them to demonstrate their ability in English. Examples
include candidates with a permanent or long-term disability, such as
hearing/sight impairment, dyslexia or a speech impediment; or with
short-term difficulties such as a broken arm. If you have special
requirements, please contact the test centre at 2827 6362 for details
directly.
5. Send my IELTS Results to Institutions / Employers (If Applicable)
5.1 To request for copies of your result to be sent directly to recognising
organisations, please click on “Add +” to select the organisations.
* A recognising organisation is one of over 6,000 organisations
worldwide, including universities, employers, professional bodies,
immigration authorities and other government agencies. A list of
recognising organisations that accept IELTS scores can be found here
(http://www.ieltsessentials.com/results/who_accepts_ielts.aspx).
* if you cannot see your recognising organisation in the list provided,
please select “Other” and enter organisations.
* If you like to send the results to the recognising organisation by local
/ international courier service, you are required to come to the centre in
person for arrangement and payment of courier fee.
Local Courier: HK$60 per copy
International Courier: HK$120 per copy
6. Verify your Test Information
6.1 Please double check if all of your personal information and test date
details are correct.
6.2 Click on “Continue” to process (After clicking on the “Continue”, it will
change to a button of “Make Payment”)
* Once you start the booking Wizard you have 1 day to complete the
booking details and make payment.
7. Payment
7.1 You will enter the “Begin Payment” screen after click “Make Payment”
7.2 Select Payment Method and Continue Payment Process
* You must pay for your test within 1 day of commencing the booking
process to ensure your test is booked.
* You need either a credit card or PayPal account to book your test
online. If you do not have a PayPal account you can simply use credit
card (Visa/MasterCard) for payment. For further details contact the
test centre.
7.3 Acknowledgement
7.3.1 A payment confirmation email will be sent to your nominated
email address and you will be contacted by the test centre about
the speaking date, application photo arrangement and
confirmation of your test registration on the next working day
7.3.2 You are required to send a digital file of passport sized photo (in
JPG format) to Test centre ([email protected])
within 5 days after the online registration.
