THE CAPE WHEEL EXPERIENCE
Laureus Sport for Good
Laureus’ core concept is simple, brilliant and daunting: Create
global awards that recognise the achievements of today’s sports
heroes; to bring sports people together; united in achievement
but divided by sporting code. Once that community is brought
together, to put their reach and the support and investment of
Laureus’ Founding Patrons and Partners to work by supporting
a message that can help social projects around the world who
are using sport as a tool for social change.
Our Cape Wheel is a giant observation wheel that offers a
spectacular 360˚ panoramic view of Cape Town from the
vibrant V&A Waterfront precinct.
Your viewing experience across the Mother City includes
Table Mountain, Robben Island, Cape Town City skyline, Paarl
Mountains, and the Cape Town Stadium. The Cape Wheel
offers 30 fully enclosed air conditioned cabins that will take
you 40 metres above the ground in safety and comfort on the
12 – 15 minute, 4 revolution ride. Two of the cabins are wheelchair
friendly.
That message, simply, is Sport for Good.

The only annual globally televised sports awards show.

The Academy is the ultimate sports jury who selects the
winners of the Laureus World Sports Awards. The Members
of the Academy also volunteer their time to act as global
ambassadors for the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation.
The Laureus Sport for Good Foundation Trust South Africa is a
local chapter of the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation. It is
the first Foundation to be launched globally in October 2002.
Meet Sam the Seagull. He’s fluffy, he’s fun and sometimes just
silly enough to make you laugh.
Sam is a celebrity here at the Cape Wheel and when he pops
in for a visit there is lots of excitement. Sometimes he hands out
free goodies and you can be sure, that if he is around, you can
always have a photo and a hug.
A unique association of 55 of the greatest living sporting legends.
