Dear Parents,
In an effort to ensure that learning activities for all students contribute to academic content, correlate to other
classroom material and have the support of parents, the Tipp City Board of Education has developed a policy to
govern the use of commercially produced movies in our classrooms. The policy incorporates guidelines based
on the movie industry rating system, as follows:
General Audience, all ages admitted. This is a film which, in the judgment of the Rating
G
Board, contains no material that would be objectionable or embarrassing for audiences of
any age. A G-rated motion picture is not by definition a “children’s” film, but it is a film
which is considered generally acceptable for the entire family.
Parental Guidance suggested. Some material may not be suitable for children under 12.
PG
Parents Strongly Cautioned. Some material may be inappropriate for children under 13.
PG-13
Restricted, under 17. Adult in theme and treatment. Should be viewed with an adult for
R
discussion.
Movies used in the Tipp City Exempted Village Schools require parental permission according to the following
