HSV LAUNCHES MY17 RANGE
The covers are officially off!
HSV is excited to confirm details of its entire Model Year (MY) 2017 range - the greatest
performance car range ever produced in Australia.
As shared with dealership staff in a recent round of meetings, HSV’s MY17 range will consist of
eight unique models from two distinct streams – a “30 Years” anniversary range celebrating the
company’s 30th year in operation, and a much-speculated “GTSR” range encompassing three highperformance variants.
Range highlights include:
•
•
•
•
The addition of exclusive “30 Years” anniversary content across the entire GEN-F2
supercharged range including ClubSport R8 LSA, ClubSport R8 Tourer LSA, Maloo R8 LSA,
Senator Signature and GTS
More power, more torque and the fitment of Torque Vectoring to ClubSport R8 LSA,
ClubSport R8 Tourer LSA, Maloo R8 LSA and Senator Signature
The introduction of a GTSR range featuring GTSR (sedan), GTSR Maloo and a very limited
edition GTSR W1 – the most powerful performance production car to ever be built in this
country
The availability of four unique, 400kW+ supercharged powertrain variants including the
introduction of a 6.2 litre supercharged LS9 engine to be fitted exclusively to GTSR W1.
“30 YEARS” RANGE
In celebration of its 30th year as Australia’s leading high-performance car manufacturer,
ClubSport R8 LSA, ClubSport R8 Tourer LSA, Maloo R8 LSA and Senator Signature all benefit from
a power and torque upgrade to 410kW / 691Nm.
Torque Vectoring, until now the sole domain of the iconic GTS, becomes standard equipment
across the entire HSV “30 Years” range, further boosting the safety and technology credentials of
these models.
The aural experience of all models in HSV’s “30 Years” range is boosted through modifications to
its bi-modal exhaust system. Functionality in the chassis control module has enabled HSV
engineers to recalibrate the exhaust valve control enabling it to open earlier in the “rev” range: a
move sure to please all HSV enthusiasts.
In addition to these performance upgrades, all vehicles in HSV’s “30 Years” range receive exclusive
“anniversary” content to mark this significant milestone, including:
•
•
•
•
•
“30 Years” floor mats
“30 Years” fender badges
“30 Years” sill plates (exc. Maloo R8 LSA)
“30 Years” rear window sticker (exc. ClubSport R8 Tourer LSA)
Unique engine build plate
Styling of the “30 Years” range is also enhanced through the adoption of “matte black” accenting
on the 20” alloy wheels of the GTS and the three R8 LSA models, while HSV’s stylish 20” SV Rapier
forged alloy wheel, until now optional across the GEN-F2 range, becomes standard on Senator
Signature, further enhancing the model’s “luxury/performance” positioning.
Also available for the first time, across the entire “30 Years” range, is a stylish, 5-spoke, 20” x 9”
(front) and 20” x 10” (rear) optional SV Rimfire forged alloy wheel. Whilst ½ inch wider than the
GEN-F2 range of forged alloy wheels (with the ensuing benefit of improved tyre side-wall
stiffness whilst cornering), the SV Rimfire wheel is also one of the lightest wheels HSV has ever
offered.
HSV’s 6-piston brake package, until now fitted exclusively to the GTS model, will now be available
as a production option on all other models in the “30 Years” range. This AP Racing brake package
features forged 6-piston brake calipers and 390mm (front) and 372mm (rear) discs.
GTSR RANGE
HSV is excited to announce the return to its line-up of the highly revered GTSR nameplate.
First seen on an HSV in 1996 with the introduction of the acclaimed “VS” model, HSV will offer
three GTSR model variants as part of its MY17 range.
Drawing on its racing heritage, all three vehicles – GTSR (sedan), GTSR Maloo and GTSR W1 share consistent, track-inspired styling and performance DNA.
All vehicles feature an all-new front fascia and splitter enhanced by bold new and wider front
fenders that house 20” x 9” (front) and 20” x 10” (rear) SV Panorama forged alloy wheels: Hyper
Dark Stainless on GTSR and GTSR Maloo and Matte Black on GTSR W1.
Complementing the muscular front fenders are unique fender vents – carbon fibre on the GTSR
W1.
A premium, AP Racing, 6-piston brake package, featuring monoblock calipers and massive 410mm
(front) rotors, adorn all three GTSR models, delivering world-class stopping power.
GTSR and GTSR Maloo feature Continental ContiSportContact 5P tyres for the optimum balance
between road grip and ride comfort, with the GTSR W1’s forged alloys wrapped in specially
selected Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R 265/35 R20 (front) and 295/30 R20 (rear) tyres to maximise the
vehicle’s track potential.
From a suspension perspective, GTSR will feature HSV’s Magnetic Ride Control (MRC) system while
GTSR W1 will be fitted with all-new “SupaShock” suspension.
This track-inspired suspension system mirrors that fitted to Walkinshaw Racing’s “Supercars” refined for on-road driving but with a tune that is undeniably track focussed.
At the rear, both GTSR and GTSR W1 feature an all-new fascia and diffuser, housing quad exhaust
outlets with dual diamond tips (shadow-chrome on the GTSR W1), while the decklid features HSV’s
new “Aeroflow” spoiler delivering a strong, distinctive and cohesive look. The spoiler upper is
finished in carbon-fibre on GTSR W1.
GTSR Maloo also features a new wide and lower diffuser and quad exhaust outlets with dual
diamond tips.
Internally, the GTSR range reflects its track heritage with all three vehicles featuring new HSV
Podium seats finished in Alcantara with diamond-quilted stitching. Striking red herringbone twinneedle highlights also feature extensively through-out the cabin, while an Alcantara-wrapped,
sports-profile steering wheel and gear selector are standard on GTSR W1 and optional on both
GTSR and GTSR Maloo.
HSV’s engineering team have worked feverishly to squeeze every ounce of potential out of the
6.2 litre Supercharged LSA Generation IV Alloy V8 that powers both GTSR and GTSR Maloo.
The adoption of a new, hi-flow performance air filter sees maximum power output increase to
435kW, making this the most powerful LSA V8 engine HSV has ever offered.
GTSR W1 will feature the acclaimed 6.2 litre Supercharged LS9 Generation IV Alloy V8 engine as
originally fitted to the 6th generation Chevrolet Corvette ZR1.
Aided by its 2.3 litre supercharger, forged aluminium pistons, dry sump and carbon-fibre airbox,
the LS9-powered GTSR W1 will have a maximum power output of 474kW making it the most
powerful performance production car ever built in this country. Maximum torque (815Nm) places
the vehicle in “V8 Supercars” class.
To optimise the potential of this powertrain, GTSR W1 will utilise a Tremec TR6060 (MH3 spec.)
close-ratio, 6-speed manual gear box with a ZF SACHS twin-plate clutch. This unique transmission
helps keep engine RPMs more centred around maximum power output and delivers outstanding
overall shift feel with short throws and smooth gear synchronisation.
As with the “30 Years” range, the bi-modal exhaust system fitted to the three GTSR models has
been calibrated to open earlier in the “rev” range, rounding off the significant powertrain story.
All three GTSR models will also be fitted with performance features signature to the HSV range
including Torque Vectoring, Enhanced Driver Interface and a Driver Preference Dial to moderate
key electronic vehicle systems including Traction Control, Launch Control, Torque Vectoring, BiModal Exhaust and Electric Power Steering.
Three new colours will be available with HSV’s MY17 range – “Spitfire”, a vibrant green, “Son of a
Gun”, a gunmetal grey and “Light My Fire”, a metallic, burnt orange. A tailored, high-quality car
cover will also be available with all GTSR models, numbered on GTSR W1.

DEALER SUPPORT MATERIALS
To assist you with your own promotional endeavors, a range of support materials will be made
available.
Brochures
Pull-up Banners
Windscreen Banners
Number Plates
A2 Posters
Large Format Posters
Quantities of these Point of Sale materials will be mailed to you from tomorrow. Copies of the GTSR
range brochure will follow mid-February (production was unavoidably delayed as the “pilot”
vehicles that were used for photography were not built and available until early January given the
later – April – launch. The brochure is, however, available to download from the HSV website –
www.hsv.com.au).
To help build your familiarity with the new MY17 range, an e-PRODUCT GUIDE has been
developed and uploaded to our Retail Access Portal (RAP). Please familiarize yourself with its
contents and the valuable added background information provided within it.
Also available on RAP is a raft of IMAGERY and “IN-DESIGN” files to assist you with the
construction of any print or on-line advertising you may wish to pursue. These files offer an array
of vehicle imagery, backgrounds, headings and sub-headings to assist in simplifying the creative
development process.
PROMOTIONAL ACTIVITY
Today, the official media embargo is lifted and, as such, you can expect to see a raft of coverage
for the new range. HSV recently conducted a confidential 2-day MY17 product briefing and drive
program for Australia’s and New Zealand’s leading automotive publications and websites and we
are confident that positive reviews will emanate from that event.
HSV will also be undertaking an extensive promotional campaign of its own to help build
awareness and excitement for the new MY17 range.
Our activity started this morning with posting, on HSV’s SOCIAL MEDIA sites, of the range
highlights, together with an array of vehicle imagery. You can expect to see much social media
content posted over the coming weeks featuring key styling and performance features.
Our WEBSITE, which enjoys up to 50,000 visits per month, has been updated to reflect the new
MY17 range offering vehicle specifications and imagery together with access to download copies
of the new BROCHURES. Specially designed “microsites” have also been developed for each of
the models in the GTSR range for added prominence.
An electronic communication will be sent to HSV’s extensive (34,000+) DATABASE providing full
details of the new range and click-through capability to our website for pre-sale events like test
drive requests and “locate a dealer”.
