O Brave New World, honors the past and heralds the future
at City View at Metreon on March 12, 2016

BERKELEY, Calif. – California Shakespeare Theater today announced details for the company’s 21st
annual fundraising gala, O Brave New World, to be held Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 6pm at City View
at Metreon in San Francisco.
The fun and elegant evening, hosted by Gala Chair Maureen Knight, will honor the past and herald the
future as the company celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Bruns Amphitheater and the arrival of
Artistic Director Eric Ting; every dollar raised will support the creation of theater that engages
communities and ignites learning.
O Brave New World, a vibrant celebration of theater and the thrill of making a difference, will begin
with a silent auction and cocktail reception, followed by a sumptuous dinner provided by Grace Street
Catering, surprise performances, live auction with auctioneer extraordinaire Greg Quiroga, and
dancing with music provided by DJ Dave Tutton.

the spectacular auction items include great escape vacation packages to Costa Rica, Italy, Seattle, and
New York; a one-of-a-kind glass blowing party hosted by Glassybaby; a chance to perform onstage at
Cal Shakes during one of this season’s productions; a Napa Valley getaway including a trip to French
Laundry with private reservation service; stunning diamond jewelry from Neiman Marcus Walnut
Creek; VIP tickets to Outside Lands Music and Art Festival, including exclusive Polo Lounge access; and

The Lead Corporate Partners for O Brave New World are Baker Avenue Asset Management and John

Cal Shakes’ gala is at the core of the company’s annual fundraising campaigns and over the years has
garnered more than $5 million in support. The 2016 season, celebrating 25 years at the Bruns
Amphitheater, begins May 25 with the Shakespeare’s beloved comedy, Much Ado About Nothing,
directed by Jackson Gay.
