While event organizers are quick to share dimensions of each, they won’t disclose how much these items weigh. That’s for Cinco de Mayo event attendees to guess. On Saturday, May 3 and Sunday, May 4, Food City will display a “larger than life” bag of chips and jar of salsa at the Cinco de Mayo Festival in downtown Phoenix. “We decided to have a little fun with this year’s festival by bringing in Arizona’s largest bag of chips and jar of salsa,” said Cisco Echeverria, Vice President of Merchandising for Food City. “It’s something fun for families, and it’s representative of the thousands of tortilla chips and warm tortillas made fresh everyday at the tortillerias in our Food City stores.” Event attendees will have an opportunity to guess the weight of the chips and salsa throughout the twoday festival. The individual who submits a guess closest to the actual weight of the bag of chips will win a $100 gift card from Food City. Same goes for the individual who submits the guess closest to the actual weight of the jar of salsa. Winners will be announced on Saturday, May 3 and Sunday, May 4 at 5 p.m. This year’s Cinco de Mayo Festival, which takes up nine city blocks in the heart of downtown Phoenix, is expected to draw more than 200,000 people. The event will feature plenty of specialty Mexican foods including carne asada, burritos, beans, carnitas and fresh homemade tortillas. Families will enjoy a variety of activities, and over 29 bands will perform on two separate stages throughout the weekend.
