OSH in Responsible Mining-P2 - Occupational Safety and Health

OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH –
Responsible Mining recognizes that the impact of
a company’s activities on health and safety of
both the employees and affected communities is
primarily the responsibility of the company.
Adequate measures should be put in place at
every stage of the mining in order to address
health issues and safety concerns.
--CSR Guidebook, COMP 2011

related impacts associated with mining over its full life cycle.

Adopt a comprehensive safety and health program that meets
relevant local, national and international standards, rules and regulations,
which includes, among other:

Adequate response program for emergency situations
2
General Principle of Occupational Safety and
Health in Responsible Mining:
•
Be proactive in implementing good practices for health and
safety performance in all phases of mining by:

Basic Principles of Safety and Health in all stages of Mining:
Exploration -- Safeguard the health and safety of workers and the local population
Construction -- Safeguard the health and safety of workers and the local population
Operation -- Safeguard the health and safety of workers and the local population
and provide a safe and healthy workplace
Mine Closure -- Safeguard the health and safety of the workers and the community
and ensure that there is life after the mine
