January 2016
From the Directors Desk..
It’s back to school for many of our children after taking time
off for the holidays. Those lucky kiddos that were able to
spend time with us here at Rainbow leading up to the holidays, were able to participate in celebrations, events, and
lots of special classroom activities.
We want to thank all of the parents who helped support our
parent board’s efforts to spoil our staff over the holidays by
purchasing Santa Letters. A HUGE thank you to Ms. Michelle
Turlington and Ms. Erica Ragsdale for getting all the letters
out to the children.

Cooler Weather
Even with a chill in the air, it is important
that we always get the children outside during the day. Please be sure to send your
child with hats, gloves, and coats all labeled
with first and last names.
It is a requirement by the State of Virginia
that children are allowed outside time each
and every day. Please note that any child
who is unable to be outside
will be unable to stay in class.
On snowy days, please send
your child with boots and a
change of clothes so they
may enjoy and explore the
wonders of winter.
Inclement Weather
As the winter weather approaches, so will
the snow. Although Rainbow Station will
not close due to weather, please, be aware
that we may modify our typical hours of
operation to ensure safe travels for our
teachers and children. In most cases, if we
do delay opening/closing we will open our
doors at 8:30 and close for the day at 5:30.
If children do not arrive and we do not receive phone calls informing us of late arrivals the school will close for the day.
Get Well Place
This is a very busy time of year for our
nurses in Get Well. We want to remind all
of our families that Get Well place is available for any child who is ill and unable to
attend his/her typical classroom.
With that said, keep in mind there is limited space in Get Well and spaces are
filled based on first come-first serve. We
will do everything we can to accommodate families when children are not feeling well, but appreciate your understanding when it is already full.
A Few Things to Remember When
Using GW
•
If your child becomes ill during the night, call
and leave a voicemail to reserve a space
(keep in mind this does not hold it, as spaces
may have been filled the prior day)
•
Remember to bring a sippy cup for your child
•
Remember payment for Get Well is required
no later than with the following weeks tuition
In such an event the voice mail will state
that the school has closed, it will be
emailed out to all families, and a note will
be posted on the door.
