Becoming an Academy, Sport and Pokemon
Before the summer vacation, and once again in September, I spoke in our newsletter about the need for our school to
become an Academy. The Governors met with several Multi Academy Trusts to listen to their ‘pitches’ and after many
hours of discussion, analysis and review, it was agreed to seek to join Truro and Penwith Academy Trust. TPAT, as it is
known, is part of the Truro College organisation. The decision to join this Academy Trust is too complex to be able to
explain to you here and so the Governors have arranged a meeting for Wednesday 2nd November at 6.30pm where. we
can explain our thinking, as well as answer any of your questions or concerns and signal the start of the consultation
period. Jenny Blunden, the CEO of TPAT will also attend.
This week has seen our school host a soccer tournament that involved teams from Trewirgie Juniors, Treleigh and
ourselves. Over 35 children took part and the games were competitive and fast. The games took place on our new sports
pitch and it was great to see so many spectators and children from around our community playing in our school.
We had another really well attended class assembly on Thursday where 2CHT had a chance to show their friends and
family the work they have been doing over the past weeks. We are so pleased with the wonderful response by the
numbers attending. Thank you.
Finally, I need to let you know that it is with regret that I have had to stop children from bringing in their Pokemon
cards to swap and exchange because it is causing too many problems. Cards are getting lost, cards taken and deals that
were difficult to fathom. All in all, we ended up with too many upset children and too much of teachers time was being
taken up sorting out issues. We will suspend trading Pokemon for the time being!

Clear Workshop
Over the last 3 weeks the children from Year 1 and Year 2 have been taking
part in a project run by Clear. They have been learning about healthy relationships with friends and family and how these make them feel, this included thinking about how to stay safe on the internet and what to do if any situation makes them feel unsafe or uncomfortable at all. The children will be bringing home wristbands with the Clear website details on them. If you have any
questions that arise from these
workshops please feel free to
see Mrs Tomlinson or Ms Lewis.
Tours of Redruth School—Message For Year 6 Parents from the
Headteacher at Redruth School:
Due to local demand from parents/carers we would like to extend the opportunity to visit our school during
the day. Therefore, school tours will be available until Thursday 20th October. This will give any prospective parents a chance to see the school in action, talk to the students and staff and have any questions answered. Please contact Redruth School for further information.

Does your child enjoy art and crafts, playing sport and other games? Would you like your child
to develop skills and confidence whilst having fun with friends? If the answer to this is yes, then
why not take them along to The Brigade—1st Redruth BB Company, any Thursday evening at
Redruth Methodist Church (Wesley Buildings) from 6.30pm to find out more?
Introductory sessions are free, after this it’s just £1 per session per child. There are separate

Pennoweth School Running Club—written by Rhianna and Annabelle
Every Tuesday morning from 8am to 8.30am, children from Year 3/4 to 5/6 have been coming to
school to join in with the Running Club. The leaders, Mrs Gaskin and Mrs Dennis, help the children to get more active by either leading the active walks with Mrs Gaskin, or quick runs with
Mrs Dennis. For the past five weeks twenty children have given up their mornings to come and
participate in the active walk or run. Annabelle exclaims that she loves running club! Rhianna
believes that running in the morning wakes you up. Mrs Gaskin says that when you do the active
walk you need to take long strides and loosen your arms!

Important Late Notice from The Head teacher
I would just like to draw your attention to one of the most
important features of our school and reiterate how important we regard the quality of our relationships with our

The Target Setting Day on 31st October is also a closure day,

It has come to my attention recently that some parents have
approached school staff in a very rude and sometimes aggressive way. Our school is all about doing our very best for
our children and families and being confronted with rudeness
and aggression is unacceptable. May I remind you that the
school has adopted the Local Authority ZERO TOLERANCE
