• Prehistory: (noun) The time of human history
before written records.
• Divided into two main parts
– Old Stone Age – Paleolithic
• ~? Until 8000 BCE
– New Stone Age – Neolithic
• 8000 BCE - ~4000BCE
– These dates are different depending
on location.

What Caused these
Differences?
• About 10,000 years ago a group of people made a
remarkable discovery
– After having left for a year they returned to find crops
growing where they had once scattered seeds
• This shift from food-gathering to food-production
was a great breakthrough that came to be known
as the Neolithic Revolution or the Agricultural
Revolution
• As people began growing their own food they
also began to domesticate animals
– Horses, dogs, goats, pigs
