E–WEDNESDAY MARCH 15 2017 “ Wealth is not his that has it, but his that enjoys it. Benjamin Franklin ” Money “What good is money if it can’t buy happiness?” A g a t h a Christie Rising rig counts remain an overhang on the rebalancing narrative for crude oil. WTI and Brent crude futures prices are treading water near three-month lows as further signs of rebounding U.S. production continue to cast doubt on the view that the output cut agreement between OPEC and non-OPEC countries will expeditiously bring supply and demand into balance. U.S. energy firms added oil rigs for an eighth straight week last week, according to Baker Hughes. Meanwhile, U.S. crude stockpiles surged by 8.2 million barrels last week to a record amid rising domestic production, which prompted Saudi Arabia’s Oil Minister Khalid Al-Falih to acknowledge that global output is falling slower than expected. Traders trimmed their bullish positions on WTI crude to a one month low last week, according to U.S. CFTC data. Given a lack of obvious bullish catalysts in the near-term, crude prices could remain volatile and under pressure in the coming weeks. The number of Americans filing for unemployment benefits is expected to have risen 12,000 to a seasonally adjusted 235,000 for the week ended March 4 after it fell to a near 44-year-low in the week ended Feb. 25. Meanwhile, the Labor Department issues import and export prices for February. Import and export prices are expected to have increased 0.1 percent and 0.2 percent respectively. The report showed import prices rose 0.4 percent in January, while export prices edged up 0.1 percent for the month. Another report from global outplacement consultancy Challenger, Gray & Christmas will show the number of job cuts for February. U.S. employers announced 45,934 job cuts in January, a 37 percent jump from December and the largest number of cuts since April 2016. Eight of the world's largest oil companies pollute as much as the entire United States, according to a study. Saudi Aramco was named the biggest emitter, responsible for almost five percent of industrial carbon pollution over time. The report comes as President Trump prepares to slash environmental regulations, cut hundreds of millions from a clean energy division, and possibly withdraw from the landmark Paris Agreement. U.S. jobs showed solid gains in Trump’s first full month. Employers added 235,000 jobs in February, an above-average pace for a second month on outsized gains in construction and manufacturing. The unemployment rate fell to 4.7 percent, and wages grew 2.8 percent from February 2016, figures that validate recent comments by the Fed that flagged a likely interestrate increase this month. By including kale in a variety of foods, including salads and wraps, it’s sounds like there might be healthy options at McDonalds. Crispy Chicken Caesar Salad with kale, for instance, sounds like a comparatively good option. Isn’t it a surprise then to find that it has more calories, fat and sodium than a Double Big Mac? According to nutritional information from McDonald's, the salad rings in at 730 calories, 53 grams of fat, and 1400 milligrams of sodium. A Double Big Mac contains 680 calories, 38 grams of fat and 1340 mg of sodium. Another of the “healthy” choices is the Greek-ing Out salad. It comes in at 420 calories, 26 grams of fat, and 1080 mg of sodium, almost the same as a Double Cheeseburger. Even the breakfast Fruit and Maple Oatmeal is not a particularly healthy choice because of the overload of sugar. Containing 33 grams of sugar, it is the sugar equivalent of a can of Coke.
