park with over 12 miles of trails traverse scenic vistas, cool

Whipple Dam State Park is the perfect place to indulge
in picnicking, swimming, boating, fishing, hunting, crosscountry skiing, snowmobiling, ice-skating and ice fishing.

The park covers 423 acres, including a six-acre lake, and
is surrounded by an 80,000-acre block of Rothrock State
Forest. The park office is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday
through Friday year-round, and daily during the summer
season. Swimming, hiking, boating and fishing are just a
few of the activities available.

Raystown Lake is the largest lake located entirely in
Pennsylvania and offers 8,300 surface acres of clear
water surrounded by 21,000 acres of forested mountain
slopes. Boating, camping, hiking, biking, swimming are
just a few of the fitness activities that the lake offers.
Flag Pole Hill
High above Huntingdon, on Flag Pole Hill, there lies a
system of approximately 9 trails with distances of up
to 1 mile each. These trails have been mapped and
improved to provide a safe and peaceful environment for
walkers, joggers and cyclists.

Thousand Steps Trail

Accessed from US Route 22, about two miles west of the
Mount Union RT 22/747 traffic light. Watch for the small
“Thousand Steps” sign. Hike up 1000+ steps to the
beautiful Huntingdon County vistas.
Detwiler Park
Outdoor area including a track, basketball courts, jungle
gyms, picnic area and nature trail.
Portstown Park
Includes walking path, play area for children and
skateboard area.
