We are very excited that the
school year has begun! The
building is alive and there is
a lot of enthusiasm
throughout the school.
Teachers are focused on
building quality
relationships with their
scholars, establishing
important procedures,
developing classroom
culture, and reinforcing the
school’s expectations. I am
proud to share our scholars
are embracing these
expectations and living our
Patriot Promise.
We have begun assessing
our scholars this week.
What does this mean? It
means we are currently
testing students on Achieve
3000 (reading) and
TenMarks (math). Our
teachers are also using
classroom assessments to
gather more information on
how we can best serve our
scholars in the classroom
setting. Measures of
Academic Progress (MAP)
testing will begin in the next
week or two. We will be
sure to alert you prior to the
testing dates. We will be
sure to look at all three data

I have had the opportunity
to meet and greet each and
every scholar here at Lane. I
am delighted to have the
honor of being the principal
for such a wonderful
collection of young people. I
share the same sentiments
as the entire staff as we are

opening of Lane with this
year’s scholars. The entire
staff here at Lane is an
energetic, hardworking,
focused, and passionate
collective. I am very pleased
to be working with such a
committed group.

each and every one of you
has been pleasurable and
helpful. We cannot be

As you were filling out
your forms for the start of
the school year, you might
have noticed your student
is due for an
immunization. Please be
advised that our West Allis
Health Department does
have Immunization
Clinics. A walk-in
immunization clinic is
available each
Wednesday from 8:30 am
to 12:30 pm and each
Thursday from 12:30 pm
to 4:00 pm.
Immunizations are
available by appointment
every second Monday
from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm
and every fourth Tuesday
from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Community flu clinics are
held in the fall. Flu
immunizations are
available to homebound
residents each fall.
All updated immunization
information should be
recorded and updated
with the Lane Main Office
for proper immunization
compliance.
If you have any additional
questions regarding
immunizations, please
don’t hesitate to call the
Main Office at 414-3026600.
Parking and Arrival and Dismissal
Our number one concern
during arrival and
dismissal times is the
safety of our students.
Please drop off your

students on 109 and
Madison and have them
enter the Café doors.
Student joining us for
breakfast may arrive at
7:15am. All other
students will be allowed to
enter the building using
the same Café entrance at
7:35.
We do have visitor parking
just north of the café
entrance where you will
notice our secure Main
Office entrance is located.
Please note that dismissal
is at 3:00 pm daily.

Infinite Campus allows

view your child’s grades,

calendars, immunization

Portal, you will also be

Cross Country
The Lane Cross Country team is currently underway and runs through October

15 . They will be participating in 6 meets this season. If your student is still

information that you need or feel free to check the school website under the
athletics tab.
East Coast Team Update
Team East Coast is
excited to be opening up
Lane Intermediate School
for the 2014-2015 school
year. We look forward to
working with all the
students who are going to
share our journey. Lacy
Lacher-Ritzka, Language
Arts, Kate Miller, Social
Studies and Science, and
Paul Dooley, Math, are all
graduates of our West
Allis-West Milwaukee
School District. We are
also lucky to have Ka
Xiong, an intern from UWMilwaukee, assisting in
our team.
So far this school year we
have been working hard
and getting the
procedures down with
your students to assist in
a great school year. We
are getting past opening
the lockers, not knowing
where class is and getting
to create new friendships
with students we just met.
We look forward to a great
school year and seeing
our “Lane Leaders” grow
and succeed throughout

West Coast Team Update
The West Coast team has
been working hard
following the Patriot
Promise of Perseverance,
Leadership, Uplift and
Scholarship. Since school
has started, we have been
extremely busy. As a
team, we have
established rules and
procedures. We spent
quite a bit of time working
on team building and
forming a strong learning
community. We kicked off
this week with the iPad
rollout and are working on
becoming more
acquainted with it as a
learning tool. As you can
see, there has been a lot
of great things done, and
it has only been a little
over a week! We cannot
wait for the rest of the
