Using one of the ropes talk about the sins people commit every day. As
the sin is mentioned tie a slip knot in the rope. Continue to do this until
the rope is full of slip knots. Likening these knots to sin refer to the
cross where Jesus died to take away our sins. It was necessary for Him to
die. He shed his blood that we might be forgiven. When you come to that point
run your hand down the rope and the knots should disappear showing how our sins
can be washed away in the blood of Jesus. Emphasise the importance of asking
Jesus into our lives. You could also show that some people are not prepared to
come to Christ by tying more slip knots in the rope but this time try and slide
them off the other end of the rope and you will find they do not come off.
These knots could be tied when the girls suggest ways in which
people try and get to Heaven e.g. good works, doing the best we
can, going to church etc. We are saved through faith in Christ
and his finished work on Calvary.
