We set up a musical show in Pallas theatre called "Greek music between the
East and the West". A phantasmagorical parade of all the musical styles of the
20th century. Melodies and dance from the East and the West collide and
compose one of the most interesting musical cultures of Europe. Piano and
bouzouki, lute and violin, flute and clarinet, fight and reconcile in a
musical composition.
The word "meraki". A word which means not only heartache but also
challenging joy of love. A word that means devotion and love and at the same
time the undefined melancholy of the unfulfilled. Greeks have "meraki" when
they sing oriental rhythms and also when they dance under the sounds of
contemporary pop, since they are made from the heartache of love and the joy
of life and because they have "meraki".
